Although there is nothing wrong with giving hypnosis a try. I would like to add my 2 cents in that you mentioned you were looking for ones on letting go of the past.
Throughout my personal development education, the term 'let it go' brings up what i had learned. At first, i would ask why do you need a hypnosis cd to that? But i know the answer, and that many simply don't have the tools or understanding of HOW to 'let it go' In a nutshell, forgive them, and love them, and hope that one day, they'll learn the things about themselves that you are learning about yourself. Your becoming a better person and that's all that matters. You love yourself and whom you are, and in turn, you love the people around you.
No one person can bother you with things that you do not choose to, whether consciously or unconsciously. I used to know a girl that used to bring a negative memory into her conscious, and then start playing with it in her mind. She would start going through the scenario and getting angry and it would slowly elevate and she get angrier and angrier.
It would get to the point where she would even start imagining things that didn't even happen in the memory just getting angrier and angrier till if someone put their hand on her shoulder she'd burst out in a rage. I had her do an exercise. When she was doing this she would play out the scene in her mind so that it was a happy ending for everyone involved. I told her wouldn't be easy but if she stuck at it, she'd see results within a month. A month and half later she caught up with me and she said it had been one of the best things she could have ever done for herself. She said she had no clue what happened other then one day something clicked and her thinking was never the same. She couldn't thank me enough but I already know that the best gift you can ever give someone is themselves back them.
You might consider EFT or NLP from a live person instead of a recording. For me I think the past being over and done with makes sense for me, and today RIGHT NOW is more important. Wanting to 'let go of the past' for me, implies one holding on to it.
Just stop that and do some thing else might be useful. Some have said that if you have things INSIDE you want to get rid then come OUTSIDE more and do some thing else. Never mind about the past troubles now. After all, my brother wippin' my butt doesn't affect me at all today. Nor the Nuns wailing a ruler on us. Over indulgence in the past may be a whole different story.
Although even that is changeable for the body regenerates totally after so many years. And many worse than that but, now they are just too far off, distant and dark to even matter any longer. And my offenses are over and done with. All I can do is not be a repeat offender. Give thanks forgiveness and do penance when possible.
I mean I used to run them in my mind but, now they are just tiny little remnants of their former self with no power at all. It is now a great challenge and takes hard work to recall them in any way but a black and white snap shot, that just sits there like a crumbled old faded image in the bottom of a shoe box in the garage. It only comes out when you want to learn something from it.
When a skilled person can see you and calibrate you, the feedback is useful in order to best assist you to help you make a change based upon YOUR model of the world. If you pick up thier book 'Professional Hypnotism Manuel' there are dozens of techniques in there including very quick methods. As for the reason for hypnosis in the first place it is a path to the subconscious mind and if you think about it's only between 10 and 12% of out minds that is conscious material therefore all our processes, behaviours, habits, are from the subconscious or unconscious mind.

After reading the entire thread here are more thoughts: 1) Ronnie - I agree that NLP would help you a lot.
NLP has hypnosis built into it, just not in the way that you would normally think hypnosis works. The Peak Performance CD on my WSO is a brilliant way to learn NLP skills. 2) Time line therapy is a form of NLP that can specifically help you 'let go of the past' as you put it. But it isn't the only way 3) I agree EFT is a powerful solution, so is something called 'be set free fast' (BSFF), which is an improved version of EFT. You can do some reading on these. The hypnotist who recorded the CDs in my WSO is trained in EFT, BSFF, Hypnosis, NLP and much more.
I've learned tons from him. 4) A few people mentioned Steve G Jones.
I absolutely can't stand his stuff. Reason is he had a video demonstrating 'covert' suggestibility tests. Only people trained in hypnosis would understand this but a suggestibility test is designed to make the other person think he is a great subject (having the subject believe this helps them become a better hypnotic subject). If the test is 'covert' it has no purpose. Steve didn't seem to get this in his annoying video. Just my opinion.

And while we're on that note: Bussey, if you'd like to begin working on your particular issue now, I highly recommend doing a google search on the NLP 'swish pattern'. It works wonders if you apply it diligently, and it should tide you over until you find a good hypnosis program that suits your needs. Talking about the Swish pattern, Alan B. Densky is a real consulting hypnotist with over 37 years of experience. He offers multi-session hypnosis & NLP programs, and almost all of his various programs include that pattern (he calls it the 'Flash').
It is by far the most useful pattern in existence for instantly teaching the brain to use negative thoughts to automatically trigger positive thoughts. In other words, the thoughts/things that are bothering you become automatic triggers for thoughts /things that make you feel good. When you totally stop thinking about what you want to let go of, then you have let it go! Sharify - scripts are usually used by people who don't understand the point of Ericksonian hypnosis. You can cram in the studies. For the actual studying, I used a free tool called jMemorize ( create flashcards of the books I was reading. It helped me to basically memorize tech books for at least long enough to take the test.
You can import and export from CSV so you can use other people's flash cards too. I then recycled the flashcards into a website to help others: The roadblock was not 'how to study' it was 'get off my butt and begin studying' • •. Lloyd Glauberman's are great. Been using them for years. Holosync was ok, but I experienced a lot of catharsis with it. I broke through a lot of that through Vipassana. Hypnotica's are cool, too - but very trippy.
They'll take you to a whole new place. You can find them on CD Baby. I never really got into Paraliminals, and prefer HPP (Dr. LLoyd's stuff) over those.
I like his voice better. I really liked hypnotica the sphinx of imagination - it was very scary for me to begin with in the end I stopped listening as I did not like his suggestion - ' remember hypnotica planted the seed' • • •.
Just a quick into and out of script. I didn't have letting go of the past but preparing for change might help. This is a complete cycle if you want to create your own tape. Start Recorder and read in an even, slow, steady pace. Should be about 20 min. As soon as you are ready, you can ask yourself when you are going to close your eyes.
And if you take a deep breath, you can feel your body relax; and as you slow your breathing, you can let your mind relax. Let's begin by comparing your mind to the surface of a quiet pond. My voice can be as a breeze whispering in the trees along the shore. The pond remains smooth and calm even though things go on beneath the surface.
There may be much happening beneath a still surface. You can see this image clearer with your eyes closed. Now it is easy to dissolve the image and form another--perhaps a stairway leading down--and you can see yourself leisurely going down. The stairs can be covered with a thick plush carpet, a carpet that is like a cloud beneath your feet. Perhaps there is a brass handrail or a walnut banister.
The stairs can lead you to a ballroom with sparkling crystal chandeliers, or to a comfortable room with books and crackling logs in a fireplace. And while you are here, the outside world can stay outside.
You can take a few minutes and notice just how good you feel here. (Pause) You can do anything you want to do. You don't even have to listen to my voice.
Your subconscious mind can do anything it wishes, but your conscious mind isn't going to do anything of real importance here. You don't have to bother trying to listen to me because your subconscious hears with new awareness and responds all by itself. You may be learning to recognize the feelings that accompany inner relaxation.
You can experience a light, medium or deep level of relaxation; you choose what is best for you. Your body can feel heavy or it can feel light, or it may feel asleep so that it doesn't feel anything at all. It can float up or it can sink down, or it can very pleasantly drift. It can do whatever you wish.
Perhaps your body feels as if it has gone to sleep even though your mind seems to be awake. Of course, you don't have to concern yourself with that. This is a learning and growing experience. Of course, you can go very deep--and safe. Your inner mind is aware; it can hear what it needs to respond to in just the right way; it already has more awareness. If I count from ten to one, then you can go deeper-- more in perfect harmony--by picturing yourself going down a flight of stairs or an elevator or an escalator-- any pleasant image you wish. And if I count from twenty to one, you can go twice as deep, enjoying a pleasant, comfortable feeling--any kind of feeling you wish. Install Katana 2 0 USB.
Twenty, nineteen, eighteen, seventeen, sixteen, fifteen, fourteen, thirteen, twelve, eleven..ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. And, in dealing with human emotions, I realize that in the past I may have felt I was the victim of change. But now I am the instigator of change. I will fill my changing with a positive and realistic attitude and accept that each change brings with it levels of growing that are necessary and good for me to experience. I understand the need for constant change and self betterment. I can visualize this as a home which has not been cleaned, repaired or remodeled, but has been left to deteriorate.
Or as I would look upon a neighborhood which has not progressed, but has fallen apart. Or even a city or a nation which refuses to change and becomes stagnant. This process of change is ongoing, up and down, through generations of peoples, eras, and seasons. Sometimes there seems to be no 'middle ground,' no safe place to avoid change. This is especially true with me, so I will plan on progress, I will welcome change, and I will build my future.
Change must come into each life, as day must follow night. What I do now determines what my changes will be and how I can grow with them. I bring my goals and ideals together into one vivid symbol or picture of how I will grow and become stronger and more loving. The right image will come and I will focus on this clear picture. The greater and more profound the changes, the greater and more dynamic is my strength to meet these changes and grow through them.
I release and set free the burden of negative emotions, whether self-inflicted or not, which I have felt from persons or events in my past. I release the feelings which I have imposed upon myself and held. As I forgive and bless other people--and release these emotions--I feel better and more positive about myself. I am confident in the future I am planting.
The seeds of my tomorrow are in my thoughts, my plans, my words, my touch, and my actions. I wholeheartedly embrace the joyous responsibility of change in my life by liking myself, by taking care of my body, by letting my emotions grow constructively and by lovingly sharing my joy with others. In the eternal now I am making me a more positive person. I bless those who have taken care of me in the past and those who will share my life in the future. I give and receive blessings each day and grow to be a happier, more loving person with each season of change in my life. And, I bless myself for caring about myself and my growth.

My two cents: I tried most of them for an embarassing sexual problem (exessive mas.n) and the only hypnosis sessions that worked is from Paul Clinton, and the reason is simple. We need DEEP hypnosis. This is where most fail, they only get you into a mild trance (useless) Clinton has about ten inductions, so you try the first one and if it doesnt work, try the next, and so on. Another good reason is because Clinton doesn't just use soft talk, the Cds contain sound effects, and brainwave stuff, and to prove all this, his Cds are guaranteed • •. The best hypnosis?
Probably the one that awakens the mind more than putting you to sleep. A fair answer, though it doesn't truely answer the question. The best hypnosis would be the hypnosis that strikes its listener with the most impact.
The hypnosis that is most carefully scripted and thought out. The hypnosis that is best and properly recorded.and I'd almost be willing to bet that if everyone intersted were given a batch of CDs, they'd all come to different conclusions on who had the best cds and why.
Ktmurphy: Very good point. Hypnotherapy is a highly subjective experience and there is no 'one size fits all'. What some think is brilliant, others will think mediocre.
It's why people really have to try it for themselves, because it can work wonders as you and I (as therapists) both know, but there are some people for whom it doesn't move mountains. Oddly enough, I'm one of them! I have over 20 years of hypnotherapy experience, and have had successes and failures with clients as most therapists have, but for me personally, although hypnosis was initially effective for me, it became less and less so. I believe this is because of my overly-analytical mind, which is why I find brainwave entrainment and subliminal therapy to be so much more effective. As a Psychology professional, and hypnotherapist, I find myself compelled to post in this thread. Yes, I have my problems too. First, letting go of the past may be as simple as using an audio script.
The problem is that if the underlying problem is not addressed, a person can listen to a lifetime of hypnosis or other types of therapies and never eliminate the negative feelings. It is always worth a try initially, just don't waste too much time or money if you find that you are not getting the results that you desire. Never count out a personal consultation. Find a Psychology professional with a hypnosis (and/or NLP) background. Once the therapist (more importantly you) understands the root of your problem(s), then hypnosis can act to 'Fast Track' you to a more peaceful state of mind. Many good suggestions, albeit a few misguided. The only problem I have with hypnosis is that it can take 30-60 days of practicing 30 minutes a day to make a change.
There are other forms that are much faster than hypnosis such as EFT or The Sedona Method that have the same effects of letting go. This is right - and wrong. Any method can work quickly, not so fast, or not at all. No single method will work for everyone.
Everyone is an individual. That is why the tapes and CD's can be problematic as they might not focus on specific 'Individual' issues that a person needs to have addressed. Surprisingly, no one has mentioned self-hypnosis. It is extremely useful in many areas of life, but must be practiced. I very seldom let my dentist numb me, as I can do as good a job. Those recordings you download CAN be extremely helpful for people and sort them out even after one listening. I think the ones that are recommended to be listened to for 30-60 days or so are more about reprogramming your mind for success, such as Law of Attraction - they are a means of repetition to your subconscious, which loves repetition. In the case of phobias, a single NLP session is well known to fix the problem, and techniques such as anchoring, swish, six step reframing and parts therapy can also be highly effective when used in a non-personalised recordings.
But there are indeed people who either want or need further therapy that is specifically targeted for them, and in these cases, tailored recordings and/or, as you suggest, seeking one-to-one sessions with a qualified professional is definitely the next best step. I will recommend people try my standard recording first, as this is cheaper, and only move on to the next options if they really are not making any substantial progress. I'm in the process of setting up my site at the moment so no mention of it here yet.

John Grinder developed NLP out of the works of noted psychotherapists like Dr. Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir, Fritz Perls and others.
You won't find anyone more qualified to teach you NLP than Dr. Richard Bandler. Anyone who says that they know more about NLP than him is a fraud. The only one that can even remotely compete with Dr. Richard Bandler is his co-founder Dr. John Grinder.
Which one you choose to listen to more is up to you. I personally choose Dr. Richard Bandler because of how he approaches things. To rdonovan: I agree that Bandler and Grinder are great, having done all my early training in NLP and Eriksonian hypnosis (certified Diploma), but to say that nobody else is worth considering rather limits the reach of NLP to the masses, does it not?
There are some brilliant therapists who modeled the teachings of these great masters, and who practice it well and get great results. B&G, and Erikson wanted people to learn and use the techniques and if other people couldn't learn them, and learn them well, then these guys would not have been so great after all, would they? Stuff I'm a bit embarrassed to describe. Anything on NLP could be helpful. But you should also look at it in terms of how it can help you with your copy and/or help you become more persuasive in sales and your pitch.
I have personally used some hypnosis tracks with good success. Hypnotica, who is the guy Neil Strauss worked with from 'The Game' has some really powerful stuff to trance out to.
I highly recommend him. Also just meditating and silencing your brain can be immensely helpful.
I like to fall asleep to brown noise and sometimes work to white noise.
