Use Gimp To Create Ebook Cover
August 2011 - Bondage Video Discussion Forum Archive August 2011 Name: John Galt AOH Fan: I was also intrigued to see some of the other publications in which William Malmborg appeared when I searched Amazon.com for his name. Man's Story 2 Volume 11 and Man's Story 2 Volume 12 both had great cover art, featuring an AOH redhead being threatened with a hot poker and a bound nude (but inexplicably nipple-less) redhead threatened by Nazis, respectively.
Unfortunately, there are no meaningful comments for either of these products, so they may just have titillating covers. We've all fallen for that one before. I notice that William Malmborg has a, but reading through it I don't get the feeling that he is a GIMPer. In his review of 2009's The Collector he indicates he is not a fan of extreme torture borderline porn videos, complaining that they give the horror genre a bad name.
Of course, I feel the exact same way about the current glut of torture porn movies advertised as horror, so I guess that doesn't disqualify him as a GIMPer after all. However, I did note that in all of his movie reviews, he didn't review the remake of (or the original) I Spit on Your Grave, the remake of (or the original) Last House on the Left, or any other classic GIMP flicks. And his reviews include oldies like Carrie and the original Friday the 13th, so it isn't a question of the movies being too old.
Save yourself the time and money of having to hire someone to create this 3D cover image by spending just a few minutes and watching our latest YouTube tutorial that will walk you through the proc. I then use the free image-editing software called GIMP to touch up the image. No, I don't think this guy is a GIMPer unless he's a closet GIMPer. Which is really a shame because it would have been so cool to find a fellow GIMPer publishing GIMP-ish books. *sigh* However, what I did notice was that Jimmy is a Kindle e-book and is on sale for only $.99.
And since I have a Kindle, that might be too good a chance to pass up. Oh, and by the way, I'm also glad you decided to post and hope to read more from you!

Monday, August 1st 2011 - 12:50:54 AM Name: Insomniac Homepage URL: A new movie called Trespass starring Nicole Kidman and Nicholas Cage is set for a limited theatrical run in the fall followed by a quick DVD release. The movie is about a family that falls victim to a home invasion. One IMDB reviewer says the situation 'gets out of control 'with 'torture and humiliation' involved. He says 'The title of the movies suggests a Thriller with a couple of twists, however audiences are exposed to disturbing, sick, survival ride.' Someone asked him about a projected MPAA rating, and he responded 'There is no doubt its an R rated film.' He also says 'Kidman delivers a brave surprising performance.
She suffers, she's tortured, she finds peace. It's a very demanding role as her character twists and turns, at some point she blindsided me.' Now it's still uncertain if there will be any GIMP scenes, and this reviewer could be full of it. But considering the movie has an A-list star I thought I'd give the board a heads up. Monday, August 1st 2011 - 01:12:28 AM Name: Badger Insomniac: Thanks for the heads up regarding Trespass. It is a little surprising that Nicole Kidman would choose a movie in which the female character is degraded, as she has been a bit outspoken in her criticism of the depiction of women in current offerings.
But I'm not complaining. Speaking of Home Invasion, MovieBound's top page has some incredibly graphic scenes from The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael that sure make me wish that title was available on this side of the pond. Monday, August 1st 2011 - 07:59:02 AM Name: Sloth One of those incredibly rare moments with opportunity for a summertime post - Badger - that Robert Carmichael flick is available on this side of the pond - picked up a nice quality dvd a few months back - just can't recall where it came from - sorry - keep in mind that scene is the only Gimp worthy part of the film but I thought it worth the price of admission - and quite the gruesome ending to boot. To the everlasting misfortune of Gimpers everywhere the harem will be departing for school in a couple of weeks allowing me to get back in the game - it has been a long summer without the input of you sick twisted perverts. I looked at the trailer and you weren't kidding about the high production values.
Quite impressive. This could be my kind of film. I like forced vibrator scenes and I'm sometimes OK with scenes of women who are drugged to make them sexually aroused. I can even live with the fact that Wonder Wo. Uh, Americana. Has put on a few pounds. I am concerned the film seems kind of short but I think I'll still check it out.
Monday, August 1st 2011 - 10:20:45 AM Name: John Galt A Canadian: Thank you. I'm glad you liked the Operation Americana review. The video is short, but it is GIMP-filled. Plus, it looks to be the first in a series. So you might keep an eye out for more. * * * * * Last night's True Blood featured two nice, albeit brief GIMP scenes.
The first showed an AOH bit with a witch being feasted on and then raped by blood-sucking Catholic vampire priests (but I repeat myself). No nudity, I'm afraid, which was a minor disappointment seeing as how the show can usually be depended on for some excellent skin. (Two other female characters did get naked last night, though, so it's all good.) After the AOH rape, we were treated to another flashback of the BATS scene from a couple of episodes ago. This time, though, the flames were more in evidence. Still no nudity.
And if you were wondering, the mass of flames in the foreground in the second picture below is a vampire priest called out into the sunlight self-immolating. If only we could do that with all evil authority figures who abuse religion to further their own interests. All you had to say was 'Nicole Kidman tortured' and I'm there. Home invasion films often come through with good scenes. As far as whether there will be any GIMPage, I'm not sure how you can logically torture someone without tying her up first. Then again, like you mentioned, it's an A-list star.
Although Kidman has seen her share of bondage and rape scenes in her career. Let's keep an eye on this one. -------------- John Galt: An encore of the BATS scene on 'True Blood'! I've been racking my brains for branding scenes but can't come up with anything really good. In Scream of the Demon Lover aka Ivanna (and a few other names as well), a naked woman is being racked and threatened with a branding iron, but not actually branded. It's a short scene but one of my favs. That's about it from me, sorry.
Ralphus wrote (to John Galt): Whatever happened on that 'Camelot' series you mentioned a while back If I may jump in; I watched Camelot on Netflix. There were only two scenes that were notable IMHO, one where Morgana (played by Eva Green) is casting a spell or something and gets naked. It's not a GIMP scene but Eva is quite impressive. There's another scene where she pisses off the king she's allied herself with and he ties her AOH to a stake out in the heath and leaves her overnight.
Disappointing scene, as she's not stripped. Now that I'm thinking of it there are several scenes where Morgana has captured Igraine and leaves her with her wrists tied in a room in her castle. It's not particularly interesting, again, IMO. No BATS scenes, but I think this was just the first season. It's been awhile since I watched it. Basically it's a mini-series like so many others we've come to know and love, filled with ruthless double dealing and occasional sex and nudity, but in the context of the Arthurian legends, which for me is a bit forced. I prefer the movie Excalibur.
I have some vidcaps from a Jean Rollin movie called Rape of the Vampire. It's a surrealistic, bewildering movie, but it does have an attractive GIMP and a whipping scene that is not in the database. Yes, you saw it here first! Unless you've watched the movie, of course. I have no idea what's going on, except this woman has betrayed the Vampire Queen, and is being punished.
Why, you may ask, does she not simply pull her wrists out of the loops? Like many other things about this movie, I don't know. I enjoyed (SSPD-033) when it was released a few years ago, but other films in the series were disappointing, particularly the one with Maria Ozawa and the one with Asami Ogawa ( I know people disagree with me about the Asami one, but that's my take). My guess is Lady Panther 10 will be released in September. Wednesday, August 3rd 2011 - 05:53:12 PM Name: YikYakker Simon: There's a very well-done bare-chest branding in, and it occurs early enough in the movie that you don't have to waste time watching the rest of it. Has a decent swastika-shaped- foot-branding-with-racking scene, although the movie itself is so lame it's hardly worth searching for. One of the best branding scenes, IMO, is the one with Corinne Clery in The Story of O. Not only does she bare her very fine ass, but the blood-curdling scream she emits is among the best I've ever heard. If you use Search the GIMP, you'll probably find other branding scenes that were discussed here or in movie reviews.
------- DHT: I saw Alucarda years ago and don't recall much GIMPage. Of course, my memory doesn't always serve me well.
But it does register a display of epic nudity from one of the actresses. I also recall that there was a lot of frenetic activity, screaming and over-acting, as well as bit of jumping around (cinematically, that is).
A very noisy movie. It is probably much better, though, than another movie called which has been trounced by critics on Amazon. In case anyone didn't catch on, Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards. But Alucarda is not about vampires, it's about Satanism. I know a guy who refuses to watch any movie about Satanism because they terrify him so. But I agree that it was pretty effective, for a low-budget movie. I'm recalling now that most of the mayhem I described comes near the end. I'm glad you jogged my memory about this movie, because there is a very nice GIMP scene about halfway through. The title character's friend Justine, believed to be possessed by the devil, is strapped to an X-frame and stripped completely.
Then the 'religious authorities' stab her in various places with large needles to search for the Mark of the Devil. The actress is very attractive and the scene is pretty disturbing, what with all of the nuns rolling around on the floor in a state of religious fervor. Is a description of the movie, with pics. She's done so much work for Kink.com but she has never taken a dick. I think the most she did was do a BJ on Hogtied one time.
It's always pissed me off about her that she gave up her 'bondage fucking' cherry to the 'Hardcore Abductions' site, and I've never seen her bound and fucked anywhere else. A side note, I think the footage of 'Operation Americana' was filmed early this year, because in the interview, Christina talks about her 'new website' opening up in Feb. I do find her hot, but I believe she is a model who has been battling her weight for most of her life. She's on that 'Anna Nicole Smith' borderline of really sexy/or too big. Any chance of gimpage with Nicole Kidman and I'm there. But that one still from the movie that was posted already hints at disappoinment. If you notice, it looks like the man is bound but not Nicole. Thursday, August 4th 2011 - 11:59:52 PM Name: DHT Ralphus: I predict that that ice cream bar commercial you find to be of questionable relevance has, in its 15 seconds, more erotic thrills than TRESPASS will have in its entirety.

Since Canadian was good enough to make up a bunch of caps from Trojan Horse, I'm going to run some more. I actually e-mailed him earlier this week asking for more Lisa Kinkaid pics than he originally gave me, so I could put off running the Sandra Chase ones. Like I mentioned before, she's not my favorite ZFX girl, but maybe some others will like her. It's interesting, though, that when I asked the board if anyone wanted to see the Sandra Chase caps, no one spoke up. Not even Canadian. Dangerous Dave: Good point about Cage being tied up and not Nicole Kidman in the picture.
One concern I have with Trespass is that the film is directed by Joel Schumacher, an openly gay director. Can we really trust a gay man to deliver the goods in a story with a GIMP theme? Don't forget he also made 8MM, a story with huge potential (it was about snuff films) and who got the bound and gagged scene? Joaquin Phoenix! But like I mentioned before, how are you going to torture someone without tying them up first?
Unless the reviewer meant the word 'tortured' in a different sense. I think it's definitely going to be one to check out, just because of the casting and the kidnapping theme. Will it produce more than 15 seconds of erotic thrills? Maybe not in DHT's book, but I think he prefers ice cream to torture anyway. Saturday, August 6th 2011 - 08:36:54 AM Name: MeetThePryz Homepage URL: Slave Castle Series - Overview and Review Attackers' 'Slave Castle' series is often thought of as Slave Island's femdom lesbian cousin, and that sums it up nicely.
The fate of the captured women is still unending sexual slavery, but overall it isn't portrayed as violently or depressing. The dommes of the castle are all women: MAYA, Riria, and one or two guests that change per episode. Most of the slave women are betrayed or sold by somebody they know, who may or may not get in on the action. - Of particular note is the rape room filled with masked gimps that the slaves get sent to for disobedience. They'll spend days there (indicate by clocks or X Days Later captions). There's actually a 'Best of' video that entails only the male-dom rape scenes of the series.
It is hinted that all of the gimps are ex-boyfriends and husbands of the enslaved women - Pretty much every single episode involves Gothic Lolita Riria fucking the slaves with a strap-on, and forcing them to eat her out. - The slaves wear bondage and belts at all times, and little shiny tags get attached to them to indicate each time they've been fucked. By the time the episodes end, the slaves have quite the collection!
- Lots of fake enemas, collars, leashes, doggy bowls, and all that standard BDSM stuff. - Chairs with dildos sticking up from the seat are common, as well.
There's not really much to cover for the series like there was for Slave Island, but I think a short overview like this would be appreciated here. - The third domme in this episode is ridiculously hot, and the other guest dommes are pretty sexy as well. At 52 minutes, the slave tries to escape, and gets nearly drown as punishment. The dommes kidnap and gag the slave's boyfriend, and Riria rides him in full view in a great scene. - A young woman is betrayed by her coworker. This episode introduces extensive time skips (2 days later after the first 'inflation' scene, '4 days later' going into the first dog bowl scene).
53 minutes in is a nice ring gag scene, the two hot dommes forcing the slaves to eat them out. There's extensive male-on-female rape, and some interesting gags as well. - There's a new female domme here, and the two slaves are bound chest to chest.
One of the slaves underperforms and gets a nice long whipping, and after that, a visit to the rape room where she is chained down and savaged by gimps for hours. Overall, a pretty interesting episode. - Extensive use of time in the rape room. The actress is reasonably good. As hours pass for the slave, Riria just looks so bored as she's reading a book. It ends with her licking up a puddle of cum that leaked from her cunt. Overall, one of the better episodes.
- A perfume creator overshadows a coworker, and gets sold in an act of revenge. Riria rides the boyfriend gleefully. - The entry that killed the franchise! The woman is actually really pretty in this one, but her acting is awful. At one point, she gets sent to the rape room, and a 'one week later' caption pops up. She barely even looks fazed! It's really hard to say which if episodes is the best, as overall it is such a mediocre series.

I'm looking forward to whatever they have planned for HSGR100-- they haven't had a multi-woman entry in a long, long time. I have a Slave Color overview in the works like I have for the other slave series. The series is so disjointed and uneven that I'll likely completely skip some entries.
This includes the Slave Female Teacher and Slave Fiance spin-offs, as they really are part of the main series in terms of continuity (Slave Teacher 5 ->Slave Teacher 6 ->Slave Color 15 (or 16?) are one long chain of semi-continuity, with an increasingly depressed slave that eventually just gives up on life). Saturday, August 6th 2011 - 11:05:07 AM Name: Badger Regarding the much discussed and anticipated release of 'Trespass', while I agree that it is highly doubtful that there will be much if any on-screen Gimpage, I very much look forward to the possible sexual intimidation. I am one who believes that intimidation of a good-looking women such as Nicole Kidman, if done right, can be a bit of a turn-on. 'Dead Calm' is a perfect example. In order to survive, Ms. Kidman decided to come on to Billy Zane.
Things went horrible bad for her, and she ended up submitting to him. That segment of movie ranks among my all-time favorite in terms of sexual tension. Re: Lisa, part of the fun watching her was how she developed, in the beginning she really didn't do any full suspensions, and as she progressed she was able to do more and more extreme scenes. A final note, and what I always thought was an overlooked gem among the ZFX films was The Worm.
The main actress, I think her name was Marilyn Malone, was one of the most flexible girls Rick worked with, she was not as cute as Lisa or Penelope, but not many were, but she was very expressive and realistic in her suffering. I think my tastes skew far more toward simulated rape and humiliation (rather than physical torture with whips, etc.) compared to most of the other contributors here, which naturally pushes me toward more of the Japanese stuff.
Attackers is the only major company that veers towards 'serious' movies with realistic/dark endings, not like other companies that invariably end with the woman actually enjoying things. I've never seen other people here mention their Kichiku Rinkan series, which is by far their longest running (#99 comes out next month). I guess the subject matter is a bit iffy, but title generally translates (according to various software) as something along the lines of Devil Gangrape. The women themselves are all portrayed as wearing school uniforms, but the actresses are all well over the age of 18, and it almost always portrays them as being reasonably close to the age of 18 (Many show them driving cars, etc.) and portray them as upper classmen or even college students.
There's way, way, way too many to go over, but here's a short list of the notable ones. Overall the series is pretty low-key, without any recurring fetishes except uniforms and classrooms. And, again, I don't condone extensive age-play in porn, but I don't really care if a character is supposedly 17 rather than 18. #57: Yuka Haneda's entry. She's a nurse's assistant that learns how to make the patients feel good. I really like the final shot of this film, of her laying on a cluster of desks completely bound in gauze like a mummy, except for her tits (of course).
#61: Very dark story. Two girls get raped, and one of them commits suicide halfway through the story after finding out she's pregnant. I really don't know if I recommend the film, but some may like it. The other one gets let go after having cum forcibly poured into her. #65: A hot female fortune-teller helps her boyfriend abuse and degrade a female customer.
There's a nice bondage mattress in this. #73: Three cute girls try to scam the wrong people out of money, and get kidnapped as punishment. #83: Two friends forced to fight against each other to see who will get treated worse. $94: After her father dies, a young woman is treated horribly by her step-mother and her new boyfriend.
#96: Very recent, with a hot actress, good performance, and some fierce looking rape while bound. I received an e-mail from beautiful redheaded Delila Darling, who has been the subject of several of my reviews on the GIMP Forum. She is engaged and will most likely be cutting down on her bondage sex stuff because her intended is more on the 'conservative' side.
I for one am wearing a sad face. She mentioned that she did more shoots for, though, which sent me there immediately. Sure enough, it looks like she makes appearances in the last SIX videos.
And unlike the disappointing first video I reviewed, it looks like she is even naked in the rest of them. And for anyone who appreciates Delila Darling, naked is the best way. Even better, the last video is entitled, which is described as '.the start of a new series with slightly rougher treatment.' The one before that is called, where Delila is '.tied and used on her bed.' A couple of these are on my Must See List.
They are all on my Want To See List. So I will definitely be reviewing any of them I watch. But if anyone beats me to it, I would love to hear someone else's take on them.

Silverback had mentioned he was going to be shooting Delila again, but I didn't expect SIX movies. Although it looks like 2 of them are just compilations where she's just one of many girls giving a bound blow job.
For all we know, he might have just lifted that footage from her other films. Both you and I have both seen the mostly disappointing. Based on the stills, it's hard to say if she's bound and raped in the sequel, looks like mostly her being forced to orally service her attacker. Not sure if it's worth the 40 bucks. Now Carley and Bad Dream looks much better. Looks like Delila is threatened with a knife, forced to suck him and then bound, gagged and raped on the bed.
Now we're talkin'! After I saw the first Delila movie, I advised Silverback via e-mail to go rougher with Delila if he shot her again. I told him not to blindfold her, tell her to act scared (she was mouthing off to him in the first movie, which totally didn't make sense) and lose the vibrator, that it was totally ludicrous for a rapist to pleasure his victim afterward. Now he comes out with Roughies Volume 1, which he promotes as 'slightly rougher treatment'. Hmmm.I wonder if his version of rougher jives with my version? At any rate, that one looks like the best of the bunch.
Naked, tied while raped, and gagged. And it's rougher than normal? I'm there, man. Delila Darling is gorgeous. She's a woman who seriously rings my bell. A rough bondage rape movie with her as the victim? I would say that's a slam dunk.
Based on the stills, I don't see how this can be anything but good. I would say it's time to give this guy another chance. After all, he's made some very good bondage rape movies in the past. Monday, August 8th 2011 - 09:44:21 PM Name: John Galt Ralphus: Yep, you picked the two new movies on my Must See List. It looks like she's still wearing too many clothes, but the rougher treatment sounds great.
Delila mentioned that she wasn't completely comfortable with the camera guy in Delila and Nichole and that might have affected the shoot. Maybe, but the clothes and blindfold spoiled it for me. She did think I would like the new, rougher ones, and since she has read at least one of my reviews of her shoots, I think she is aware of my, umm, particular perverse tastes. So I will be ordering the two last ones. Expect reviews. Monday, August 8th 2011 - 10:40:21 PM Name: Bill K.

Sandra Chase may not be the all time favorite ZFX girl, but she has an appeal to some of us more sophisticated types;). A few comments: Falstaff wrote: A final note, and what I always thought was an overlooked gem among the ZFX films was The Worm. The main actress, I think her name was Marilyn Malone, was one of the most flexible girls Rick worked with, she was not as cute as Lisa or Penelope, but not many were, but she was very expressive and realistic in her suffering.
No one else has ever mentioned this film that I am aware of - so similar to liking Sandra Chase - maybe I am alone in my admiration. Interesting comments and observations, thank you for sharing them. Is certainly an obscure choice, you're a hardcore ZFX fan to have that one on your radar. This is probably one of the odder movies I've made and I have made some odd movies.
The inspiration was ' ' which is based on the Robert Heinlein classic. Marilyn Malone was indeed very flexible and did a good job on this movie. As a funny aside, after we shot the woods scene where Marilyn gets knocked out and carried off by the zombies, we were loading her (pretending to be unconscious) into the trunk of the car. Just then, a security guard comes around the corner and freaks out. There were a few tense moments and quick explaining. Bear in mind Chandra Sweet and Bryan Dunhill are covered in prop blood and look pretty freaky.
Once he realized she was OK and it was just a movie, he was cool and we went on our merry way. I intended to do a sequel to. I actually ran a promo for part 2, but it just didn't happen. I remember being asked: 'When is The Worm 2 coming out'. Lesson: don't promote shit you dont have in the can.
I was never able to get in touch with Marilyn Malone, apparently she moved out of the area. The first was not wildly popular so trying to do a second seemed ludicrous. Ralphus wrote: That was definitely a minor ZFX effort, though, even though it was part of their Shockwave series, which were supposedly more ambitious and more sci-fi themed than some of their other normal titles.
It's been years since I've seen it, but what I remember most was a lack of dialogue. Bryan Dunhill was in it, but Rick kept him virtually silent, which really misused his vast talents for emoting. Actually was not a minor effort.
At the time, it was pretty ambitious. The movie has several different locations with exterior shots and a lot of different types of bondage scenes plus some special FX work.
Some of the stuff covered are voyeurism, bagging, strangling, AOH whipping and forced dildo humping, electro shock and a rack scene with alien impregnation. There is a lot going on.
I think if you saw the movie again, you might consider it differently, at least in the effort department. Maybe not the best movie I've made, but it wasn't for lack of trying. Incidentally, got massaged a bit when I re mastered it for DVD.
The alien pregnancy was redone, it is now better than the original. As far as Bryan Dunhill's performance, I was thinking an alien zombie would not be big on conversation.
I suppose he could have been a wise cracking alien zombie, but I was going for a more silent menacing type. Bryan played so many wise cracking cyborgs, robots, serial killers etc., I wanted to let him try a different approach as a zombie. I actually liked his performance a lot, his rack fucking of Marilyn was very creepy, IMHO.
My own personal issue with the movie is the worm itself. I was not happy with the worm model as it appears on camera and it was not sturdy enough and began to break down.
I could have been better executed. But sometimes, that's the way the worm crumbles.
A necessary update from Reine Margot The crisis time is over. Jane is back!!! JJ went to pick her up from the airport past Thursday the 4th of August, he was there half an hour before the scheduled arrival which was 9 PM that evening. But Jane was late.
Her plane arrived at 1:30 am when it was already Friday. JJ had to wait almost five hours in the high altitude (16,000 ft above sea level) airport and he was a nervous wreck because he was informed that the plane had difficulties. To pass the time he bought a book from an airport bookstore, probably at twice the price: The Masks of Fascism which he read almost entirely. At 1:25 the plane was landing.
Some 20 minutes later JJ saw Jane walk from the plane to the entrance of the airport building. He still had to wait until she went through passport controls, get her luggage and so on. At almost 3 in the morning they were in the Taxi on their ride home.
Jane was well but very tired after the long trip from Bangor, via New York and Miami, with a few hours of waiting in Miami for a plane that could take her and her fellow passengers to La Paz. Jane and JJ arrived home and talked until 4 am and finally went to bed. After a quiet weekend, with the exception of Saturday night when some of us were with her to greet her and there were drinks galore and exchange of anecdotes, we're getting back into normal work. It's not like we were paralyzed, but it wasn't normal. Even though we advanced in many areas, we were not working normal. Furthermore, our normal work is now enhanced with new equipment.
Most importantly a new computer for JJ, one that is a lot faster. Really, a lot faster than the G5, circa 2003, he has been using to edit. When Jane bought the computer, she talked to tech support in Apple and asked if the new computer was going to be faster for editing. When the tech guy learned that JJ was using an old G5 he bought in the year of Red Feline 2003 to edit he exclaimed 'Is he editing on that old thing?!!!!'
Jane was told that the new computer it's not only faster, but way, way more advanced.' Like night and day' the tech said. That comment made Jane happy. So, now JJ is setting up his work in the new computer and it obviously works way, way faster. We used two cameras in most of the shooting, one is 1080 and the other 1090.
Don't ask me to explain, it has to do with the HD quality. Final Cut needs to render the shots made with the 1090 camera. The G5 would take many, many hours, if not days, to render a large segment. The new computer does it in minutes, a couple of hours, at the most for those files that in the G5 would take 3 days, literally.
So, with the new tools in hand, the editing will progress faster, way faster, than before and if I'm not mistaken, we'll arrive to a release date of Maleficarum very soon. It's not only the speed of our equipment that is important, it's the film itself. Is it coming along the way JJ wants it to be? There are those artistic considerations. But everything is a lot faster now. I was looking at one scene last night, when Jane is surrounded by flames at the stake.
It looks just amazing. The flames in the pictures above and below, were not added after the shoot. THEY ARE in the footage, as you see it here. These are not photographs, stills, from the production. These are vid caps from the footage itself.
You should hear her scream. It makes my heart pound faster. The editing of Maleficarum is very complex, that's the reason why it's taking longer than Barbazul, for example, which follows a very tight script. The first cut of Barbazul is ready. We could release it very soon if we wanted to, but we're going to wait until we're done with Maleficarum. Margot, Good afternoon.
I received my latest order, the Via the Crucis of Camille-Crux 6 and 7, and got the opportunity to view it in its entirety yesterday. So far my favorite movies with Camille for the following reasons: 1. You got to see Camille's face through most of both short films. I especially liked the brighter lighting in Crux 6 for just that reason, which goes the same for Crux 1 of Jane.
Camille's facial expressions are fabulous. I know you have heard it a million times, but it is a shame you covered-up Camille's face so much in Red Feline on the Cross because we missed so much of her facial twitching underneath the mask. Noticed that was the one and only film with a mask on your lovely ladies. The scenes, in both films, where Camille was stretched on the whipping post were great. Again, because she was stretched tight it really elongated her body and the glistening sweat emphasized the muscle cuts and definition in her torso. I did like the scene in Crux 7 better because Camille shed her clothes completely in the scene.
In my opinion, both scenes would have been better if Camille had been whipped in that position instead of poked. One final observation about the whipping post scenes and that is again because Camille was on her tip toes or suspended it really elongated her body the way wearing a high heel does for woman. Much better than the ladies standing on the foot preaches, which actually shortens the appearance of their legs from certain angles. So maybe in a future film with Jane and/or Mila you can hoist them up on the whipping post with their legs tied to the post, like Camille in the aforementioned scenes, and then whipped instead of poked. Food for thought. So when will you be releasing Via the Crucis of Camille-Crux 8,9 and 10? Please advise.
That's it for now, I'll have more news in a week or so and. Maybe some teasers from Maleficarum? Margot Friday, August 12th 2011 - 06:45:04 PM Name: Mr? Homepage URL: yo.I am surprised to find no posts about Fansadox. Anyone sub-scribe these days?

Saturday, August 13th 2011 - 04:59:15 PM Name: Ralphus E-mail address: Looks like the nice folks behind the Spanish soap opera 'Hispania' are back at it again. I found another torture scene featuring the very beautiful (and the very naked) Ana de Armas. Ana has already been through a lot on that series. She's been tied up, whipped, branded and almost raped, and those are just the scenes I know about. Hey, the producers are no dummies.
They know exactly what to do with the cutest girl on the show. This time the nudity is implied, so no naughty bits are on display, but if you look closely, you can see the branding scar on her back she received in another scene. This scene is relatively short and she's not tied up, but my goodness, this girl is terribly cute and she definitely knows how to suffer for the camera. I liked the mini-review you printed regarding the Via Crucis of Camille movies. It just so happens I also like AOH scenes done in the same manner as the writer and now I'm thinking of adding--which one was it? Crux 7, I guess, according to your hot and helpful pictures--to my Red Feline list. * * * * * For those GIMPers, like me, who love pretty, slender models, I would like to draw your attention to the breathtakingly attractive and innocent looking Sensi Pearl. (She reminds me of a young Linda Hamilton.) She has done some vanilla porn shoots, but recently started working A LOT with Kink.com, which she likes. It sounds like she has had less than great experiences with other companies. She has a couple of stand-out shoots that I highly recommend, with the standard Kink caveat that it includes 'torture' by vibrator.
Device Bondage DB-14166 (Kink.com, 2011) Probably my favorite Sensi Pearl shoot so far. As you may or may not know, Device Bondage mostly does not include sex, and as far as I can ascertain, never when the rigger is Orlando, which it is in this shoot. The models are bound with metal restraints which leave little to no room for movement, and in stressful positions. It is as close to a medieval dungeon type bondage as you can get using modern-day equipment. This 53-1/2 minute video includes a 2-1/2 minute intro (in which Sensi is clothed) and an 8 minute outro in which Sensi is gloriously naked and visibly recovering from the effects of the last scene. In the first of three scenes, Sensi is sitting on the wooden floor, fully clothed, ankles chained wide apart, wrists shackled together behind her, and a rope tied in her hair and attached to the ceiling to keep her head pulled upright. With her long, shapely legs and delicate slender throat, she looks so young and innocent it hurts.
Orlando walks in and first thing, pulls the overhead rope so tight Sensi cries out as her head is forced up. Groping, slapping, squeezing, rough handling and ripping off of clothes ensue. There's a really nice bit where Orlando rips her blouse open and the buttons all go flying and ricocheting around and one lands and rolls to a stop in the foreground. Nipple pinching and pulling, breast squeezing and breast/chest slapping so hard it slams her body backward into him, and choking.
This is followed by breast and upper thigh flogging, at the start of which Sensi is smiling but at the end of which she is grimacing and crying out. Her clothes are cut away to reveal her flawless pale body and nipple clamps with heavy weights are attached to her small pink nipples. Next, Orlando whacks her with the bamboo cane, which I think of as being the most painful method of 'whipping' of them all.
He strikes her all over her body, but he keeps up a long, hard, constant series of strikes directly on Sensi's pussy and you can tell it hurts quite a bit. Next comes a black ball-gag, black blindfold and black vibrator on a stick, against which she moves her pussy initially, but from which she vainly tries to escape once the stimulation gets to be too much.
It is quite exciting watching her twist and writhe in extremely strict bondage, and at the height of her two orgasms, Orlando rips (he doesn't unfasten, mind you) the clamp off of her delicate pink nipples one at a time, eliciting a cry of pain from Sensi and, not for the last time during this shoot, it sounds like she is about to cry. About 19 minutes in, the second scene begins.
Sensi is sitting with her back to the wall, elevated about three feet off the floor sitting on metal blocks, with her arms fastened in metal restraints down and out to her sides while her ankles are fastened with metal restraints up and out at head level, with her pussy fully exposed. Oh yeah, she also has a metal band around her throat, fastened to the wall. It is a terrific position just rife with perverse possibilities. Pussy slapping, finger fucking, hair pulling, hand gagging, nipple clamps, nipple pulling, and extreme pussy flogging (that brings tears to her eyes) all build up to the scene climax. Sensi's nipple clamps are tied to her big toes, and in order to have her orgasm, Orlando makes her rip the clamps off herself. That part, where he roughly vibes and finger fucks her to orgasm, forces her to pull off the clamps, and then continues to vibe and roughly finger fuck her as she twitches, spasms and tears up even more, is especially intense. At a couple points, he clamps his hand over her mouth and nose and she struggles for breath.
He finger fucks her with enough to force to move her entire body back and forth. When the camera zooms in for a close-up, you can see the sweat coating Sensi's lovely face and her body. Highly intense, but believe it or not, not the most intense scene in the shoot. Just before the 36-minute mark, the third scene begins. Sensi is completely naked, suspended upside down using straps and chains so that her elbows are drawn behind her back but her wrists are pulled out and upward, and her legs are spread straight out so that they are parallel to the floor. There is also a chain around her delicate throat and fastened to the floor under her to limit her head movement.
Orlando begins by whipping Sensi's body, aiming and hitting her nipples and clit most of the time. Sensi jerks and cries out as he scores his hits. Sensi sounds close to tears again. Orlando inserts the dildo-and-vibrator-on-a-stick combo into Sensi's pussy and leaves it in place as he continues to abuse her with nipple clamps. He leaves her hanging there, twitching, jerking and spasming until she gains a bit of control, then he steps up and roughly fucks her with the dildo and vibrator until she is once again jerking uncontrollably. He walks away leaving the vibrator going on high and Sensi continues to jerk and struggle until she loses control and starts crying. The scene abruptly ends at 45:45 minutes.
The outro begins with Sensi seated on the floor, having just been lowered by Orlando, but still fastened into the chains and straps. She is still a bit out of it as he tells her that even though she did not safe word out, he determined that she was at her limit and halted the shoot.
During the entire outro discussion--almost 8 minutes, Sensi is still shivering visibly, which is kind of cool. SUMMARY: Sensi Pearl is metal-restraint bound in three extreme positions, slapped, flogged, whipped, finger fucked, and vibed, and pushed past her limits to the point where the rigger halted the shoot when she started crying and became unresponsive. An unbelievably intense session with a beautiful model who has an incredibly high pain tolerance and an aversion to using the safe word, even when she loses control. (I noticed in the shoot that Bobbi Starr repeatedly asked Sensi if she was good to continue when she teared up.) This is Kink at its best, with a fresh young model and a competent and skilled rigger ready to push her to her limits. I am beguiled by Sensi Pearl and blown away by the intensity of this shoot, and give it an enthusiastic A.
It is not a rape scene, but it clearly treads that line between fantasy and reality that my favorite Kink and Powershotz clips do. You can download this clip as part of your membership in, or you can purchase it for about $18.24 at the. The page at the Kink store has still photos and a brief video that is very nice. And pictures this time! I don't follow Kink.com and their various offshoots very much, so it's nice to read up on what they're up to. Despite the whole 'torture with vibrators' thing, the video you described looks pretty decent.
Might even be worth a purchase. And the reason would have to be its lovely young star, who I'd never even heard of before.
Sensi Pearl.interesting girl. She definitely doesn't look like a porn star. Cute face, lithe body and refreshingly, no piercings and no tattoos. Looks more like the innocent girl next door. And in fact, I read she actually started her career working in Disney movies (I kid you not). And this girl not only does hardcore, she does bondage porn? Okay, I'm interested.
So I did some more research on her. Turns out she's not only a Smokin' Babe, she's a tokin' one. This girl is a major major pot head. We're talking fanatical. She admitted in an interview that she is obsessed with smoking pot.
She even adorns her official website with marijuana leaves and refers to herself as 'Ganja Goddess'. On her Amazon wish list is a long list of pot-related stuff. In fact, she even chose her name to be pot related. 'Sensi' - short for sinsemilla, which is the Spanish word for marijuana flowers with no seeds. Well, maybe she's not quite as wholesome as she appears. I'll definitely take her.
I think she's hot as hell. I'd be curious to read more about her other shoots. I guess that will have to wait until the next time you get inspired. In the meantime, the direct link to your latest review is in my Homepage URL above.

She is so lovely and appealing, and such an effective GIMPette. Thanks for finding that clip. You're right, she sure gets beat up a lot in this series. In she only gets knocked to the floor and choked while trying to prevent a rape. Unfortunately, the girls get the better of the situation. I believe the GIMP manual has a reference that goes something like this: When attempting to deliver the goods to two victims, always make sure that one is tied down before you go after the other. ------- Badger wrote: I am always at least slightly disappointed in a plot-driven video in which the victims bare their bodies BEFORE being corralled.
It kind of takes away just a bit from the juicy scenes to come. I go along with that idea. I like to see the victim get her clothes stripped/ripped off of her. Ratchets up the excitement level, IMO.
Case in point: Jenna Jameson gets her and is threatened with a knife. ------- John Galt: Quite a find, that Sensi Pearl. I might be interested in this clip for the blouse-ripping and the whipping. Can you imagine what she must have looked like at 18? Yeah, I thought that blouse ripping bit was awesome--the kind of thing you just cannot realistically choreograph. Unless, of course, you send off to ILM and have them CGI the button and accompanying sound. Which I'm pretty sure they didn't do.
Here's another Sensi Pearl Kink vid that I enjoyed. * * * * * The lithe and lovely Sensi Pearl has done shoots for all the Kink.com websites. I most anticipated seeing the Sex and Submission shoot (being an aficionado of male-female rough bondage sex), but it did not live up to my expectations. The shoot I most enjoyed--after the Device Bondage shoot I reviewed previously--was her Whipped Ass shoot. Whipped Ass is Kink's femdom-oriented site, which would naturally be problematic for a lover of penetrative rough bondage sex if not for the copious strap-on and dildo use by the female domme, in this instance, the unbelievably hot and sexy Bobbi Starr. Petite Bondage Slut (Whipped Ass WA-13716, 2011) This 48-minute video begins with an almost 4 minute intro, featuring Sensi in a thin, tight white top through which her small, hard nipples are boldly poking the entire time. She is wearing a high-waisted short skirt with a wide purple belt and matching high heels.
She just looks so cute. At the end there is a 5 minute outro, in which she is completely naked. And in between is some rough femdom bondage sex goodness, consisting of three different scene set-ups. The first scene begins with a fully clothed Sensi perched on the toes of one foot, her hands rope tied behind her back. Ropes extend up from her back to the ceiling. Her right knee is pulled up high, bound tightly with another rope attached to the ceiling.
Sensi's soft brown hair is done up in a ponytail at the back of her head. Bobbi walks in and spins her around in a bondage pirouette, during which Sensi raises her unfettered leg and points her toes together in a recognizable ballet position.
Bobbi cuts away Sensi's shirt and skirt to reveal her slender white torso and small breasts (now squeezed in tight rope bondage), but leaves the tatters hanging off, caught up in the tight ropes. There must be something about Sensi's nipples. In the Device Bondage shoot, Orlando abused them severely. In this shoot, Bobbi pinches and pulls them--hard--and then attaches nipple clamps and slowly pulls them off. Then she clamps them again, and adds heavy ball weights.
But even better, Bobbi cuts away Sensi's sensible panties and attaches clamps to her pussy lips. Then she attaches weights to the clamps. Heavy weights. They stretch her swollen pink pussy lips downward, causing Sensi to gasp and moan.
The best is yet to come, though. Bobbi flogs the back of Sensi's unbound leg and apparently catches the clamp chain and breaks it, leaving all the weight pulling down on just one of her pussy lips. Sensi screams in pain. So Bobbi pauses to reattach it and goes back to flogging Sensi, eliciting more loud screams of pain until the chain breaks again, which sadly we do not get to see, either because the camera was at the wrong angle, or because they carefully edited out the moment it happened (which, in my wicked fantasy, included yet another blood-curdling scream of agony from the helpless Sensi). We do see the chain once again tugging mercilessly on only one of Sensi's tortured pussy lips as Bobbi chides her for causing it to keep breaking.
Bobbi removes the broken clamp and leaves the other clamp in place, with all the weight still on it, before she asks Sensi if she's ready for the second clamp to come off. When she takes it off, Sensi cries out again. More extremely hard flogging follows, Bobbi pauses to wipe the tears from Sensi's eyes and ask if she wants to continue (she says yes), and goes back to savagely whacking the back of her leg and butt. Then she uses the cane and smacks her rapidly and repeatedly as Sensi struggles and cries out until she finally begs Bobbi to stop. Bobbi hauls Sensi into the air until she is hanging about a foot off the ground. She removes both nipple clamps simultaneously (accompanied by Sensi's scream of pain), then applies a vibrator to her pussy and finger fucks her to orgasm. She ends the scene by pushing her fingers into Sensi's mouth deep enough to gag and choke her, which I thought was surprisingly erotic.
Scene two begins at about 17-1/2 minutes into the video. Sensi is bound on a raised vinyl-covered box.
Her wrists are tied together, her arms are pulled over head and fastened to the side of the box. Her left leg is tied bent, calf to thigh, and tied pulled out to the side. Her right leg is pulled straight up, tied to the ceiling. She is also o-ring-gagged. Bobbi attaches clamps to her small pink nipples once again and string ties them to the big toe of her extended right leg.
Then she uses the leather paddle to whack the back of Sensi's raised leg, but stops when it sounds like Sensi is on the verge of crying. Next, Bobbi goes to work on Sensi's pussy. She massages it, slaps it until Sensi almost cries again, then finger fucks her. Bobbi pauses and asks Sensi twice if she wants to continue, even while wiping away her tears. Don't know if you can see it above, but Sensi tears up so much it is a wonder they didn't run down her cheeks (which would have also been cool). Bobbi fucks Sensi hard, inserting as many fingers as she can, and you can tell she really wants to fist her (and tries hard) but Sensi cannot take that in this shoot.
Well, maybe next time. More nipple clamp play, more leather paddle whacking (five hard ones), and then Bobbi makes Sensi lean her head back and lick her pussy while she tugs on the nipple clamps. (I miss the days when Bobbi shaved her pussy.) Bobbi finishes the scene by removing Sensi's nipple clamps (Sensi cries out) and then just for good measure gives them each a farewell squeeze (Sensi cries out again). A little past 31:30 minutes we start the final scene. Sensi is ball-gagged and tied into an upright frame. Her arms are pulled out and up to the sides, her feet are tied apart to separate bars and her back is arched.
This looks a lot like a classic anime tentacle rape scene, where the victim is held up and helplessly exposed so she can be brutally raped from behind. Bobbi strides in, topless and wearing a really, really long strap-on dildo. I already know she isn't going to get that all the way up into tiny Sensi, but I'm looking forward to her trying. Choking and hand spanking brings Sensi to the verge of crying again, until she finally cries for mercy, which is the pre-agreed-upon signal for stop and move on to something else. That something else is strap-on dildo fucking. There's more spanking, pussy vibing, and strap-on dildo fucking while vibing. There are orgasms and then at the very end of the scene, Bobbi pours the hot wax from four of those tall candles in the background onto Sensi's ass and legs.
Sensi's response is. The outro begins at about the 43 minute mark. Sensi looks relaxed and recovered in this interview, as she and Bobbi sit naked (well, Bobbi is wearing black thigh-high stockings) and discuss the shoot. Sensi characterized it as 'intense,' and later on quipped 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' This gal's attitude is incredible.
SUMMARY: Sensi Pearl is rope bound in three strenuous positions and clamped, whipped, caned, flogged, paddled, spanked and choked by Bobbi Starr. She is o-ring gagged and ball gagged, strap-on dildo fucked, finger fucked, vibed and splashed with hot wax. She comes close to crying several times, and more than a few times Bobbi stops to ask if she's okay to proceed.
It is another intense, edgy Kink shoot with a beautiful, young and innocent-looking model being roughly used and abused. No rape, of course, but that last position was highly reminiscent of something you would see in an anime rape scene, so, woo-hoo! This was marginally less intense than the Device Bondage shoot, but included strap-on fucking, so I still give it an enthusiastic A.
The scene is available for download for anyone who is a member of, or you can purchase this shoot at the for about $16.35. There is also a video preview and stills at the Kink store. After looking through a lot of my favorites I would like to point out a writer/artist that may have gone un-noticed or under the radar despite being very mainstream, John Byrne. Byrne was part of some of the finest points of such great comics as the X-men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, just to name a few, however he did do a comic called the Next Men, an extreme rip off of DN Agents, that had all kinds of Bondage and GIMP worthy situations, and if you look at many of his other projects you'll find several other GIMP scenes, from the Scarlet Witch being magically suspended spread eagle to Susan Richards/Invisible Woman becoming a character named Malice, who looked as Dominatrix as they come to his work with Wonder Woman need I say more. What I find amazing is how under the radar Byrne has flow, his work is very much worth checking out.

Monday, August 15th 2011 - 10:51:50 AM Name: Ralphus E-mail address: Homepage URL: John Galt: Thanks for another Sensi Pearl review. With this being an all-girl video, it has less appeal to me, but it still looks like Bobbi Starr put her though the ringer, so more suffering is always a good thing. The link for your latest review is in my Homepage URL above. Reading your review made me remember why I generally dislike the consensual stuff that Kink churns out. You made note that Bobbi asked Sensi if she wanted to continue.
Talk about blowing the fantasy big time. Any time you are asking the model on camera how she's feeling, if she's liking it, if she wants to go on, it ruins it for me. That is telling me that the model is in control and not the one dominating her. Yes, I know that's always the case, of course. All these films are consensual, but they don't have to keep announcing it throughout the video. It bugs the hell out me.
Give us the chance to believe that the girl is really being tortured against her will. If I ever keep any footage of their stuff, which is rare, I always take care to edit out any dialogue that tips off that this is a consensual scene. In fact, now that I think about it, I seem to remember a moment like that in a ZFX movie. I think it was in War Pigs, where Chandra Sweet is tied to a chair and Rick is choking her with a noose around her neck.
Chandra was gasping and was so convincing in her performance that Rick broke character momentarily and asked her if she was all right. And believe it or not, that was left in the final print. Talking about taking you right out of the scene! Bad guys do not generally ask their victim if she's okay while they're torturing her.
I have no way of knowing for sure if this is the right movie because I edited the scene out of my own highlights tape. I'd be curious if 1) I'm remembering the scene correctly and 2) whether that segment was removed when the movie was converted for digital format. --------------- Greg: I dunno, I'm not as big a fan of Pichard's work as you are. I think he was a talented artist with a great imagination for harsh bondage, but what confounds me is that his victims usually tend to look rather homely.
Both those artworks help to prove my point. The first picture features what could have been an attractive woman, but he gave her a face tattoo and a big nose ring! If you're an artist, you have no restrictions, you can draw her as pretty as you want. So why intentionally make her ugly? And he did that over and over. So as much as I admire the themes of his artworks, I tend to collect very few of them for that very reason.

She-Hulk, the Hulk's much cuter (but still big, strong and green) cousin, should have stayed in regular comics, which (unlike Graphic Novels) were then still firmly under the iron heel of the Comics Code Authority.
Sure, she was super-strong and tough, but her boyfriend was an ordinary human and a quick gun to his head forced her to surrender to a bunch of thuggish Homeland Security types. They immediately force her to strip naked in front of dozens of leering SHIELD agents. She sarcastically says maybe they would like her to jump rope naked for them, which is actually a terrific idea, but a superior officer comes in and starts quoting regulations about how stripsearches are supposed to be done in private by an agent of the same sex. The killjoy is overruled by his superiors, however, and She-Hulk is forced to strip again and is subjected to a five and a half hour ordeal in which she says she was poked, prodded and probed in places she didn't even know existed.
They then toss her limp body back in the cell (she has been given a lab coat, unfortunately) for a two hour rest before they start up again. She escapes before that can happen. This is still a mainstream comic book company so the nudity is all implied except for one shot that shows She-Hulk's rear as she is tied spread eagle in a TV moniter. Oh, didn't I mention that, the naked examination was recorded.
Strictly for quality assurance purposes, I'm sure. She-Hulk latter destroyed one tape, but it's hard to believe they didn't make copies.
As far as I know the tape never made its way out into the general public, however in another story (also by Byrne, natch) pictures of She-Hulk sunbathing topless on a roof are secretly taken and published. Later in the Graphic Novel, She-Hulk is attacked by a horde of cockroaches and has to squish them all, winding up completely covered in cockroach goop. (It's off-topic, but it's a known kink so I thought I'd mention it.) The graphic novel took fanboys by storm. She-Hulk got her own comic (she had had one earlier but it had been canceled and she was then appearing in the Fantastic Four) done by Byrne. The idea of She-Hulk jumping rope naked became a running joke in the comic.
Sadly, She-Hulk and her boyfriend have since broken up. I'm not sure why, or if the stress of that night had anything to do with it. If he wants something to remember her by, he could always join SHIELD.
You are not the only one I have heard level that complaint at Pichard. It's just that I never saw it. I thought his women to be both voluptuous and often incredibly sexy. Moreover, so many of them were constantly being whipped, both consensually (sort of) and for pure punishment purposes, as well as branding, stretching and perhaps a few tortures there I never heard of, but there was always graphic and uncensored portrayal. Many of the bondage setups were so contrived as to be all but impossible, but heh, this is fantasy in the end.so. Sindy is a friend and a very cool chick. I certainly can sympathize with her situation, although if I ever shut this site down, and I've considered it over the years, it wouldn't be because of complainers. With maybe one exception, and he knows who he is, everybody here is quite cordial and when someone does complain, it usually encourages more discussion and the site because more interesting to read. No, if I ever decide to pull the plug on the GIMP, it would be for the opposite reason, the overall apathy that seems to plague a lot of sites on the Internet. The lack of posts here is frustrating, especially because so many of you are really interesting folks with entertaining stuff to say, but most of you say nothing. That ultimately puts the burden on just a handful of regulars to carry the load.
I look at this site like running a show. You want to make it fun and interesting every day so people will keep coming back. When people post, it's fun to read. When they don't, it's a drag. Most of the time, I think it's successful. I would go here every day even if I didn't run it.
Hits remain consistent so it seems as though others are satisfied, too. But at times it can be a lot of work. Like Sgt Major once posted, it's a labor of love, but it's still a labor. I rely on all of you to help me out.

It's available for download on Amazon for 99 cents. AOH Fan brought it to the board's attention and asked: Anyone on here enjoy bondage moments in mainstream fiction, most specifically scenes where girls are left tied with their arms over the heads for a long time (even hanged from the wrists at some points as punishment)?
(Raising my arms over my head) I do! So I downloaded it at my earliest convenience and read it. I'm sorry to say that I do not share AOH Fan's enthusiasm for the book. The title character is a teen who has been fascinated with bondage and specifically women bound arms over head since his earliest youth. He's purchased many pornographic videos and collected mainstream bondage scenes. He's planned to take his fascination to the ultimate level and kidnaps a female schoolmate (noted to be eighteen) and ties her AOH in an isolated bomb shelter.
He does not strip her immediately; he thinks clothed women are sexier, poor deluded bastard. He leaves her bound with toes touching the floor and then completely hanging by her wrists for long periods of time.
He beats her with his belt, and forces her to give him a BJ. He kidnaps her snoopy friend when she gets too close and serves her the same way. I won't tell you how it ends except to say it does not end well for anyone including this reviewer. I thought the book as a whole was dreary and unimaginative, and the writing lackluster. The response of the parents and police seemed implausibly inept (they know approximately where the girls were kidnapped but make no coordinated search of the area) and the characters are one-dimensional. Anyone who's read my in the story section (ahem... Buehler?) knows that I can write as lackluster and implausible a story as the next guy.
But this is mainstream fiction. We don't have to cut to the chase. We can spend a little time on things like character development. What bothers me most about the book is the implication that the reason Jimmy does what he does is due to his interest in bondage pornography. Yeah, he may be a bit of a social misfit, but later in the book he has a normal relationship (and sex) with a girl who has a crush on him. His family doesn't seem profoundly disturbed or dysfunctional.
In fact the exchanges between Jimmy, his devoted brother and his parents sound like something out of 'Leave It To Beaver.' There is no motivation for his actions except his interest in bondage.
Personally I think the gold standard in mainstream torture fiction (if I may call it that) is Let's Go Play at the Adams' by Mendal Johnson. How many of us have had the Kidnapped Babysitter fantasy? Well, I think Johnson brings it to life and makes it disturbingly plausible, because he really understands what's going on with the characters.
Reading that book was like looking over an abyss. (And then jerking off.) On the lighter side; as torture porn, the set up in Jimmy is inherently arousing, and without getting too personal there were some scenes that I found... Unfortunately the main character has a tendency to think about some of the tortures and humiliations he's seen in his videos that he'd like to try out on the girls, but then decides that he'll get around to those things later. All in all, a disappointing read, IMHO. It doesn't go far enough in any direction to satisfy; as suspense, as character study, or as torture porn. AOH Fan, I do appreciate your bringing this book to the attention of the forum and I hope you will continue to do so with any other GIMP reads.
I hope my review does not offend you, it's just my opinion--you say tomato, I say tomahto. I love the early pioneers like Tim Berners-Lee, who invented HTML and then gifted it to the world, allowing the Internet and the World Wide Web to grow and flourish, limited only by the imagination of everyone whose interest and curiosity it piqued (which is to say, unlimited). Can you comprehend how rich Berners-Lee would be today if he had been a businessman like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs instead of a dreamer and visionary like the men and women who have actually made the world a better and more wondrous place to live?
That dichotomy, though, is part of our existence, that for every good thing there is at least one bad thing. For every person who wants to speak out and create diverse and meaningful dialog, there is a troll who just wants to sow dissension and stifle understanding.
For every person who wants to read insightful and nuanced comments that nurture thoughtful consideration, there is a hater who wants to embarrass and ridicule. For every huge creative soul who wants to build there is a small dark malignancy who wants to destroy. And for every enlightened educator striving to teach, there is a twisted propagandist yearning to deceive. And the Internet has given voice to them all. It is a herculean task to fight the good fight, and misanthrope that I am, it seems to me that the good people eventually get worn down while the bad people seem to go on and on.
It is because the good people have to play by the rules to remain good, while the bad people gleefully ignore the rules, but are nevertheless very quick to point out when a good person breaks them, and in so doing compromises that essential distinguishing goodness. We hold our heroes to a high standard and are quick to criticize and condemn them, but we accept that bad people are always with us and expect nothing but evil from them, and so never condemn or criticize them at all.
And so we get what we deserve. I cannot begin to list the number of websites I have abandoned because the trolls took over. The only solution, given the proliferation and unending supply of trolls, seems to be a moderated approach that unavoidably involves some level of censorship. Yet censorship is anathema to me, personally. Unless, it seems, I agree with the censoring, which certainly points up a flaw in my philosophy.
It is a conundrum and a paradox. I visited MovieBound off and on but so infrequently, apparently, that I did not realize there were comments. I just looked at the pictures and read the intros.
That's probably just as well, since I read a few of the parting shot comments today and didn't much care for them. I'm not sure why the GIMP Forum has fared so well against the trolls. I have read heated exchanges and serious differences of opinion, but rarely have I read the kind of illogical, intentionally inflammatory screeds typical of trolls. Maybe Ralphus is just a talented moderator who shields us from trolls but preserves the spirited controversies. This is all just a lengthy, rambling way of saying to Sindy Sin: You fought the good fight. It was a wonderful blog while it lasted.
I hope to read more of your comments here now that your energy is not being sucked away by ungrateful trolls at MovieBound. This is also a thank you to the folks who make the GIMP Forum an interesting place to visit.
My web browser opens up to FIVE homepages: My Google page/e-mail, My Yahoo page/e-mail, IMDB, MrSkin, and the GIMP Forum. I know that infrequent posts is the bane of Ralphus' existence, and I wouldn't mind more posts, but I value quality over quantity, so I am generally satisfied. Wednesday, August 17th 2011 - 10:18:09 PM Name: MeetThePryz Homepage URL: To the Point of Falling. Aka Depraving Until. The Attackers series that most people probably don't even recognize as a series Most porn series revolve around some kind of readily apparent fetish, for better or for worse.
Gangbang, rape, bondage, hair color, race, interracial, a specific costume, M/F, F/F, FF/m, and so on and so forth. Most of Attacker's famous series are similarly easily classified: Sex Slave Training, Wives, School Uniforms, and Detectives, are the subject of their most well-known series. But somewhere, deep in the depths of their big list of series, rests the series that I'm going to review today.
Despite having 18 entries to date, it is listed 25th on Attackers list of series. The theme is a rather abstract, in terms of sexual fetishes, but one GIMPers here can easily recognize: 'Bad Endings'. While many bondage and rape films feature girls and detectives that eventually escape to safety, kill their captors, or are only victims of 'catch-and-release rape', the women of 'To the Point of Falling.' Never, ever get off easy. Tears, bondage, dog cages, brandings, inescapable blackmail, mind breaking, brainwashing, or even death are all that await these women.
Aside from that, there's not really anything else that links the episodes, and there are many different takes on that one theme. There are quite a few entries from several different directors, and vary wildly in quality and roughness.
Here is a nearly complete overview, with some entries missing due to me not having seen them, or not really cared about them. Since there really isn't any kind of numbering scheme for the series, I'm going to lump it by director, first focusing on the director responsible for 4 of the best entires: Honorary Episode: GAME OVER, SHKD-249, with Yuka Haneda. The only this isn't part of the series is because it came out before the series existed. I like to think of it as the movie that spurred the creation of the series.
Yuka Haneda plays a desperate failed actress, who after getting rejected time after time, applies to a nanny job for a handicapped woman and her brother. However, something is wrong with the woman, and something is certainly creepy about the older brother. Yuka eventually finds a tape chronicalling the woman's abuse, and leaves to turn it in to the authorities.
However, a last-minute change of heart leads her to go back and try to take the victimized woman with her. And instead, she gets caught, raped, bound, gagged, and shoved in a dog cage. The woman tries to free her.
But gets caught by her brother and drowned. After some more gang rapes, the series ends with Yuka in her dog cage, crying and rattling its walls. A great movie, and one of Yuka's best.
THE END, ATID-157: Two investigators are caught and raped. Riria is killed for no legitimate reason early on, and her friend is forced to experience the brunt of the torment. It ends with her in her white prison cell, clinging to the remains of her clothing and crying. Special Investigator, ATID-165: A fairly popular entry here, and one of the best, involving two special agents captured, bound, raped, and forced into lezdom at gunpoint. It's like an extended apology for Riria's early death in THE END. Sneaking Investigator, FAKE: ATID-158 An undercover agent investigates some slavery, but after turning on the criminals, others kidnap the detective's younger sister.
A rape montage later, she basically has to do as they ask, because they have her sister indefinitely. This is the worst of this director's efforts, easily. A second director is responsible for two of the best entries, as well: Sneaking Investigator, SHKD-373: A bitch of an investigator sends her assistant on a mission way beyond her depths, where the young apprentice is quickly caught, raped, branded, and enslaved. Trying to rescue her, the lead investigator is, of course, caught, raped, and bound. Urban Legend, RBD-164: There are urban legends about women that are caught, bound to a chair, and enslaved. A cop is investigating the crimes, only to be ambushed and raped. She escapes, but won't let the issue go.
For that, her superiors (who are in charge of the kidnappings) drug her, and enslave her. She gets bound to a special red chair, and raped repeatedly. The final scene is 'Three Months Later', and she's still bound to the chair. She isn't crying, isn't screaming, isn't moaning-- instead, she just stares vacantly into space, cum splattered against her face. Other directors: Female Teacher, Contract of Disgrace, SHKD-301: Only notable for its really hot star and sexy lingerie. She is enslaved for a student's father, bound, raped, and forced to walk on all fours and eat off of the floor. Female Teacher, SHKD-348: A teacher falls into disfavor with her employers.
I think it is basically a blackmail plot that turns dark near the end, with the teacher bound, gagged, and blindfolded, strapped to a chair with a vibrator inside of her. An okay entry. Female Teachers, Slave Training Curriculum, SHKD-366: I can't imagine this being a good place to work.
It's a school with some kind, with twisted disciplinary committee. One stern female teacher initiates punishment against another out of jealousy, That teacher is raped repeatedly until she's a broken shell of her former self, but then other male teachers use the broken teacher to initiate a committee vote against the stern bitch. A pretty enjoyable entry. Female Teacher, Violated by the Pupil, RBD-180: The title says it all.
I don't remember much about it. Woman Lawyer, JBD-144: It's a JBD movie, with all of the standard JBD fetishes (Bad acting, candle wax, rope, etc.) I don't like JBD movies. Sneaking Investigator, For You, JBD-143: Oh, look, another JBD movie! Narcotics Agent, -SURRENDER - ATID-160: A drug agent is caught and raped.
She escapes and collects semen samples, but is mentally scarred from her rape (and has a somewhat convincing mental breakdown in her apartment) and continues to investigate, finding some of the men that raped her and beating them to death with brass knuckles. She tries to kill some more, but is foiled by a bullet proof vest. More rape ensues At the end, she is gassed, and place in a body bag. Is she dead, or just unconscious? I don't know.
Complete Hypnosis Humiliation Actress, RBD-232: One about hypnosis/brainwashing. Not nearly as rough as the other ones, with no bondage, and an ambiguous ending (she likes it in the end, because she is completely brainwashed). Sneaking Investigator, Chasing the Corrupt Entertainment Professionals: ATID-166: An undercover agent investigates models that have been disappearing. She finds one of the missing girls. Who betrays her.
She then spends the next 90 minutes getting gangraped and starring in a few movies of her own. ATID-180, RBD-261: I've seen them, but I don't recall them being particularly noteworthy. Overall, a pretty good series, but like all Attackers series is inconsistent in quality. The best, I'd say, are ATID-157, ATID-165, RBD-164, and SHKD-373, and of course Yuka Haneda's SHKD-249, as unofficial as it may be.

MeetThePryz - thanks for all those head ups on the non-series series - while I know I'll never get to see most I will certainly be getting 'Game Over' as Yuka Haneda lights my fuse - okay, bad Rick Derringer reference there. The film stars beautiful young actresses Rachel Quinn as Megan and Amber Perkins as her best friend Amy. We're instantly drawn to them because they're young and pretty, but it's their believable performances that give the film its strength.
It's not hard to believe that this story could be real. And that's what makes it so effective. Megan is a popular girl in school, and she's a typical girl for her age in that she experiments with drugs and has sex with boys, partly to retain her social status, and partly to take her mind off her troubled life. She was molested by her stepfather when she was younger and she hates her mom.
At times she wishes she could just leave and start a new life. By contrast, her friend Amy is a sweet, nice girl with loving parents, but she also suffers from extremely low self-esteem. She's still a virgin, and probably has never had a boyfriend.
She doesn't do drugs and the other girls think she's a square and don't like her. She seems to be the complete opposite of Megan, but that doesn't stop the two from hanging out constantly. The two are proverbial BFFs. One day, one of Megan's friends tells her about a guy she's met online named Josh. The picture she sends Megan is of a good-looking guy who skateboards.
Megan chats with him online (she can't see him because his webcam is broken) and the 2 make arrangements to hook up. And then Megan vanishes. Eventually surveillance camera footage is released to the media showing Megan being grabbed in a parking lot. And this causes Amy to suspect that this new Josh boy may have something to do with it. She takes her suspicions to the police.
That's when things really get out of hand. I'm not going to give away too much because this is a real movie and not a traditional GIMP film, but I will say there's bondage, humiliation, a rape scene, implied torture and one disturbingly long sequence that I won't forget any time soon. Be warned, though, this is not exploitation by any means; hardcore GIMPers may not be turned on by what they see. In fact, it's more horrifying because of what it doesn't show than it might be if it showered us with titillating images. It might even make you stop and take pause next time you see one of those missing person stories on the TV or the Internet. My grade: A Thursday, August 18th 2011 - 08:38:14 PM Name: DHT OK, then. The worms are out of the can.
I saw MEGAN IS MISSING a couple of months ago. I debated talking about it here but I decided that it would come up at some point with or without me, and that I didn't want to be the one to bring it here. MEGAN IS MISSING (MIM) is a movie that had a profound effect on me, and that made me sad for a good three weeks or so. At first it's just an over-the-top, sickening and relentlessly ugly depiction of teenage life. Early in the film, the girls go to this disgusting teen sex party. Amy, Megan's friend, has a horrible time, a sleazy older bum comes onto her and when she resists, he punches her in the face, she runs to find Megan and can't, the mean girls clique starts screaming in her face gangster-style, and when she finds Megan she is high as a kite and blowing some thug who is dragging her around by the hair. If you detach and don't invest in the characters, you can watch this kind of thing with no problem. Usda Ams Process Verified Programmi.
But if you tend to get into the characters and invest in them, this is unbearable. It's a weird movie because it comes off as being very sleazy and exploitative. The party I mentioned, and a scene where Megan details her sexual experiences to Amy come off as being very trashy. The thing is, the real problems haven't even begun yet at that point, because Megan hasn't gone to meet her Internet boy Josh.
I couldn't enjoy this movie because it was too real, and too sad. And for a while, I thought the filmmakers were inept, but once the storyline picks up I realized that they were actually pretty on top of their game, and hit me with some real shocks and a very dramatic reveal that really punched me (and everybody else, according to the IMDB comments) right in the face. But it's not over yet. We still have to see what happens to Amy, and we do. Everyone on this board has seen this stuff a hundred times if not a thousand, but this is different. We've all seen our abduction-oriented porn, or our rape-oriented porn, or even our unhappy-ending oriented porn. This is different, because this is like watching it for real.
And it is deeply affecting and sad. I was so moved that I gave it a 10/10, because it's not easy to beat the hell out of me and make me care about characters, and set up a situation and do a dramatic reveal in the way I might have done it and have never seen it done. And it's not easy, after having seen virtually every horror film ever made, to actually horrify me. I am neither recommending for or against. But if you my fellow gimpers do see it, I hope you'll come here and comment. Thursday, August 18th 2011 - 10:45:36 PM Name: Badger Ralphus Your thoughtful review of 'Megan is Missing' and DHT your note of caution are the very reasons why I appreciate this forum so much. Some Gimpers might wonder why anyone would watch a movie that is almost guaranteed to leave them depressed, particularly since one of the joys of watching a typical Gimp movie is the ability -- that I think most on the forum have -- to separate the images on the screen from reality.
But I am also one who is attracted to movies that are able to move me emotionally, even if that move is toward depression for a period. DHT, your thoughts about 'Megan is Missing' are eloquent and greatly appreciated. Friday, August 19th 2011 - 09:21:40 AM Name: DHT Why, Thank you, Badger!
(The Badger is one of my all-time favorite superheroes.) Friday, August 19th 2011 - 12:04:15 PM Name: Dangerous Dave Ralphus- Thanks so much for the review of 'Megan Is Missing'. I've never even heard of the movie, but it's in my Netflix queue now. I wonder if Netflix understands what drives a sudden demand for their movies? You should get a commission! Friday, August 19th 2011 - 03:03:32 PM Name: A Canadian Thanks to Ralphus for the review of Megan is Missing and to DHT for his take on the film.
Based on everything I've read, I feel comfortable predicting it's not my type of film. I had a difficult enough time with The Girl Next Door. When it comes to mainstream movies, I'll stick with exploitation films and torture porn, thanks all the same. Friday, August 19th 2011 - 05:33:42 PM Name: Falstaff It is interesting how some things evolve.
I moved to the West Coast - Portland - about 20 years ago, one of the first things I discovered was ZFX. I think the first exposure was some of the old BonVue Home Maid Videos, then Rick went out on his own. Because of ZFX, I discovered this site, and this site lead me to, among other places, Insex, Hogtied, and Red Feline. What is interesting about all these sites is I got to watch them evolve from humble beginnings to quite startling transformations. I got to see the rise and fall of Insex - I have never got into their new site - Hardtied, and of course the rise and fall (if you can call the lack of any new material the fall) of ZFX. Currently, it is fascinating to watch the evolution of Red Feline and its principal creators, Jan, Margot, and Jane.
Of all of them the potential for Red Feline seems limitless - I am really hoping for great things from them, they definitely have the creative insight. It is fun watching it develop.
And of course the evolution of this site has been amazing, kudos to Ralphus, Scribbler and all the contributors. When you see sites fade away as has been discussed here recently, it makes you appreciate even more the effort that is required to keep and site relevant and current. Every so often, a movie comes along that deviates a little from Fantasy GIMPage and treads closer to reality. Although time rarely permits, I occasionally like to take in a well-made, effective movie, even though it's not the kind of thing that I'm usually over. Availability for rental from Amazon appeals to me, so I'm going to add this to my list of movies to view, and possibly post a comment. But don't wait up for me.;) -------: 'The Devil Trees of Gamburu'.Haw!
What a great title. Sounds like a name for one of those cheap, schlocky drive-in movies from the 1950's-early 1960's. Nice damsel though. Speaking of Conan - has anyone out there seen the new movie? Didn't realize it was in 3-D.
Last time I saw a 3-D movie was decades ago and I nearly went blind. I wonder if the technology is any better now than it was then. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 01:02:46 AM Name: James Homepage URL: MEGAN IS MISSING, DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOUR PLEASURE. Hi all, Where do I begin, well first of all I am writing this after a sleepless night. Megan Is Missing was a movie I have never heard of, until a shocked Sindy sent me a link for it yesterday, after she read about it over here.
Sindy was shocked, yeah, a bit over dramatic, its only a movie, wrong. I can't recall the last time something has affected me to such a degree of rage and sadness, who's being over dramatic now you may ask. The movie is hard hitting, depicting the world we now live in, where monsters lurk, not in dark corners, but in our homes, waiting to pounce on the young, the weak and the innocent. Yeah, we have always known that they exist, we see it on the news most evenings, people disappearing, vanished without a trace, but like a lot of things we build up a detachment. What this movie does is hit you right in the face, a wake up call. I do recommend everyone should watch this.
For me it was very disturbing to view, but with that said, it delivers a message we all need to hear. This is my personal view, sure I could have written a whole lot more, but being still fresh in my mind, my anger prohibits me at this moment in time, watch the movie and you'll know what I mean.
No doubt, Sindy has her own views on this movie, and I would imagine she will share them later. Ralphus: thank you for the lengthy review, and for covering this subject matter.
Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 06:36:22 AM Name: Sindy Sin Ralphus: Thank you for your review. DHT: After reading your thoughts on 'Megan is Missing' I had to see why it had left such an impression on you, that it had not left your mind for 3 weeks, what disturbed you? And now I know. I am a massive horror fan, books, movies you name it. And I love torture porn. But this movie, in DHT's words 'is different'. It has in no way any satisfying result after watching it.
And from time to time we all watch a movie that makes us really think. 'Horrified' is a word that comes to mind and 'shock', and that's really saying something. How often do people these days shock so easily, it doesn't happen very often.
For most people, it would be hard not to invest in the characters and become emotionally involved for the time the movie runs. Due to personal knowledge 'Megan is Missing' hits me on levels I would prefer not to feel. Should 'you' watch it?
A most definite yes. But do not go into it expecting gratification, because there is none to be had here. Not for me anyway, it's too realistic. Would I watch it a second time? The answer is no I wouldn't. But everyone is different, don't take my word for it, take a look and see for yourself.
Read DHT's thought's on this, his descriptive explains it perfectly. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 10:02:14 AM Name: carnyx E-mail address: Hi everyone- I'm really enjoying the comic book thread. If anyone can recommend any specific comic book whipping scenes I'd like to hear about them. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 11:54:14 AM Name: Ralphus E-mail address: Finally, Saturday, my day off. Time to catch up on a few things. Well, looks like Megan Is Missing is getting a lot of attention here lately.
I'm not really surprised; if you watch it, you're likely to have a pretty strong reaction to it. I debated back and forth about whether or not to review it here, for a few reasons. Even though it definitely has elements that we pervs normally like, it didn't feel right to give my usual blow by blow accounting of the 'good parts' because it's not that type of film.
And secondly, the realistic tone I felt would be a turn-off for many of our readers here. I thought it was interesting that DHT saw the movie two months ago but hesitated to even bring it up here until I reviewed it myself. Does that tell you this film is something a little different? I usually don't have time to review movies of the board with the frequency that I used to, but I made an exception for this movie because it had an effect on me, too.
I also don't hand out too many A's but had no problem giving this one a high grade. I usually grade a film based on how much the scenes turned me on. Not this time.
This movie got an A for being a damn good film, period. DHT: I wish you hadn't waited to review Megan is Missing, but I'm glad you eventually did.
I'm adding your comments to the Review section alongside mine. I think it qualifies as a review. You gave it a 10/10 as your rating, what would you consider it if you gave it a grade? Let me know so I can make it right. To be submitted to the Reviews section, a review has to be more than a few sentences long and it needs a letter grade. I've been somewhat lax in bending the rules lately, but I think it's best for the site that we be consistent. --------------- MeetThePryz: Thanks for taking the time to tell us about the Attackers series.
It would have been tough to add it to the Reviews section because I'm not even sure how you would classify the series, or even what to call it. Nonetheless, I'm glad you shared the information here.
--------------- JoeX: Covers hooked me up with the Black Widow pages you asked about. They're pretty huge scans. Rather than running them as the daily picture, here are all the links if anyone would like them: --------------- Sloth: Just got around to watching the electro-torture scene that Hank posted. Not a bad scene, the bare tits were a plus. A bit annoying that the bad guy opens up her top to expose her lovely breasts, then shocks her on the shoulders!
The shoulders? You had those nice puppies right in front of you, why not shock them? I guess that's the difference between a mainstream movie and something made by Rick Masters. --------------- Rick Masters: Thanks for getting back to me on the War Pigs scene. I thought that was the right movie but everything tends to blur together as I get older.
BTW, I really enjoyed that film, that and the sequel. I recently went back and took a look at my edited highlights. Always loved Chandra as a victim. That's one I need to upgrade to DVD. We don't have a review of that movie, that might be a good one to tackle further on down the line.
Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 12:58:55 PM Name: John Galt I wrote the following treatise two days ago and decided not to post it. Then came more comments and I decided maybe but no, I still don't think so.
Now I figure what the heck, people can just scroll past it if they don't want to read it. I am a fan of entertainment but I hate propaganda with a passion. Megan is Missing: I did not care for the movie, primarily for the reasons DHT mentioned. So from an entertainment point of view, it represented a Epic Fail in my opinion. However, I was also disturbed by the movie on a different level. Actually, disturbed is not the right word. Offended and angered come closer, but not for the reasons you would think.
First, it was depressingly real, and I do not like depressingly real movies. I like my GIMP exploitative and sexy, playing up all the fearful, erotic, and painful aspects but downplaying the reality aspects. I am looking for entertainment, albeit perhaps perverse entertainment by some folks' standards. As an example, although I am not a fan of hanging/strangulation videos, let's consider watching a struggling 'victim' slowly strangle at the end of a rope, feet twitching and jerking above the floor until she's dead, then her tormentor taking her down for some necro-sex. Well, in the Real World, chances are that upon death, her sphincter would relax, her bowels would void, and feces would run down her legs and pool on the floor and that just sounds like a buzzkill to me, necro-sex-wise.
Or in a standard fare BATS scene, I am pretty sure that hair would catch fire and sizzle away long before a sheen of perspiration would bead up on a heaving naked bosom as the flames rose higher and caused the victim to sweat. Bald crackly crispy critter vs screaming, struggling, perspiration soaked naked hottie. I want my GIMP cinematically realistic, which is nothing like Real Life realistic. Plus, just as an aside, I did not think the movie was all that well made.
But I can pull enjoyable vignettes from some of the worst movies, so that was not a big deal. The second reason I didn't like the movie, and in fact found it offensive, is its apparent raison d'etre--its 'based on a true story' documentary oh we must make people aware these horrible things happen, so that's why we showed it all in such ugly, stark detail attitude. I am annoyed by blatant (and in my opinion, poorly executed--although apparently by recent comments grudgingly effective) propaganda intended to inflame and incite based on rare circumstances. Do you question my characterization of sensational kidnap/rape/murders as rare?
It might mean you are just hopelessly programmed to believe the hype and disbelieve arguments to the contrary, but hopefully it means that you are open-minded and thoughtful. [ Caveat: I am using numbers that are a decade old, but I am reasonably certain the basic percentages have not changed all that much. It takes time to compile and analyze data and up-to-date numbers and reports are harder to come by.] According to the, the population of the United States in 2000 was 281,421,906. According to the, 797,500 children are reported missing in any given year. (This figure was taken from a 2002 report.) If you do the math, that means that 28/100ths of one percent of the American population are children who are reported missing each year and some of them are victims of a kidnapping. The numbers for confirmed abductions are lower, since some are likely runaways and some likely disappear without any resolution: Child abductions by family members: 203,900 Child abductions by acquaintances (but non-family members): 58,200 Child abductions characterized as 'stereotypical' (random kidnapping): 115 The movie Megan is Missing is an example of a 'stereotypical' kidnapping, which statistically happens to 0.0000004% of the population. That's 1 in 2.5 million.
So intellectually, I am angry that this movie is trying to trick people into thinking there's a reasonable chance that 'This could happen to YOUR child!' And intimating that cracking down on the Internet or curtailing typical teenage courtship, sex and mating rites, or outlawing essential freedoms of speech and expression are necessary to prevent it. Based on the random comments on IMDB--and some comments on the GIMP forum--that's exactly what it did.
Why does that bother me? Let's face it, GIMPers: if the emotionally stimulated torch and pitchfork crowd gets riled up about kidnap/rape/torture enough, they will come after the harmless pervs who enjoy this web site. NEWS FLASH: You could turn off the Internet and take away every right and every freedom of every American and children would still get kidnapped, abused and murdered. If not by random people-next-door, then by twisted authority figures in the ensuing totalitarian government. That darkness is programmed into human nature and will never be eliminated. I am not saying such things do not happen.
I am saying they happen rarely enough that you shouldn't get all worked up about it. And what this movie does is gets people worked up about it. If you are truly concerned with this in-no-way-whatsoever-out-of-control problem in the United States, I cannot fault your compassion. However, if you would actually like to make a difference instead of just jumping on emotional bandwagons, consider that your outrage and energy might be better directed at these problems: 1 in 50 children is homeless in the US every year, and 1 in 4 children in America is at risk of hunger. My advice (which no one asked for but I am on a roll here) is to exercise your outrage against, and spend your time and energy trying to alleviate, problems that are really real that you can have an effect on instead of gnashing your teeth, rending your garments, and trying to eliminate problems that are so rare as to be ridiculous.
The world of Megan is Missing is not the world we now live in. The world we now live in has much more mundane, much sadder, but annoyingly less sensationalistically cinematic issues. Be concerned with the real Real World. And avoid bad filmmakers who try to make mountains out of molehills.
Or at least take them with a grain of salt. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 01:28:00 PM Name: meinaru [sarcasm]But Mr. Galt, as an intelligent person you surely understand that sex lies at the root of all problems of humanity. If we eliminate sexuality, then delinquence, homelessness, and famine, all of which are caused by sexual activity, will disappear by themselves. Pure and simple.[/sarcasm]. O great Cthulhu, Flying Spaghetti Monster, Valis, or whoever runs the show - thank You that I'm not living in America.
But it was close. Really close. When I was four, and our country was in the grip of a martial law (yes, I'm from the former Soviet Block, which is not defunct, although I was stunned to learn from a ) me and my parents managed to leave our country for USA (we had some relatives there). And we've been constantly tempted to stay in the capitalist paradise. My dad said yes.
My mom said no. And so we went back to the People's Republic Of Poland, which was toppled in the next few years and replaced with the inept, corrupt mess that we have here now, but which is not as half as oppressive as the country I visited when I was four. And every colleague in my workplace agrees that U.S.A.
Are no longer a paragon of democracy, to say the least. Sorry for the rant. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 03:39:44 PM Name: Ralphus E-mail address: John Galt: A dissenting opinion, I love it! I'm glad you changed your mind about posting your treatise. This is the reason why this site was created in the first place, for discussion of movies.
I was correct that the movie was going to elicit strong reactions from people. Well-made entertainment usually does, and I totally disagree with your contention that this film is not well-made.
The performances by the 2 leads are excellent, and they are in the film probably about 98% of the time. I thought the dialogue was spot-on. That's the way teenage girls talk. The scene where Megan describes her sexual experiences that DHT thought was exploitative was, in fact, lifted nearly word for word by the director when he was interviewing teenage girls in preparation for the film. My only 'problem' with the whole documentary style of the film was that the images looked too good for the type of media it was using at the time. They cheated a bit in that aspect, but I actually appreciated that they used professional camera equipment so that I wouldn't be squinting through blurry webcam footage for an hour and a half.
I also do like realistic films. I'm one of those rare birds who loves documentaries. I totally understand that some people go to the movies to escape life, to go some mythical fantasy land and forget about reality for 2 hours.
Me, I like to see films about real people, or at least realistic depictions of people. If a film moves me, even depresses me, it probably did a good job of making me believe what it was trying to portray. So I'm not going to criticize a film about teenage abduction because it was too real and not to the safe comfort level that Hollywood usually gives us. Where we can see gruesome events unfold but they're still sexy and erotic and the damsel is still beautiful even though she's been kidnapped, tied up or worse. We love the fantasy.
But my fantasies have always been based in reality. It's a real conundrum that some people would rather not deal with at all. I don't mind going that extra step.
And I don't necessarily go along with your claim that it will begin a wave of censorship against people who enjoy the type of movies we do. Most people already dislike murderers, rapists and child molesters. They're only one step above politicians for a lot of us.
And yet hundreds of films glorifying crimes like these have been made over the years and people watch and like them so they keep making more. It's entertainment, and most people can understand the difference.
The only reason a film like this will get people worked up is because, like I said before, it is extremely well-made. Are the circumstances that occurred in the film a relatively rare thing?
Yes, thank God. But are there sick people out in the world who would do things like this to others? Yes, there are. This film represents a worst-case scenario, but it's a precautionary tale that should alert parents and their children to at least be careful out there. I think that's a good thing.
Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 05:10:39 PM Name: John Galt Ralphus: I stand by my basic point, that a caring parent would be much more responsible warning children of dangers that are far more likely to befall them, including, not to put too fine a point on it, avoiding getting involved with pornography because there are lots of predators out there. An alarmist worries that something might happen, no matter how far-fetched; a realist prioritizes and worries about what is most likely to happen. I submit that if you think this is a cautionary tale because you think there is a statistical likelihood of it happening to you or yours, then you have drunk the filmmakers' Kool-Aid. In any event, no I do not think this obscure film is going to ignite a nationwide backlash against all things GIMP. It's just that we live in such divisive times, filled with irresponsible propaganda intended to drive reasonable people to make irrational emotional decisions, that crap like this bothers me. * * * * * meinaru: Yep, we've got our problems and probably more than our fair share of nut jobs, but what nation doesn't? Still, I think the things America stands for, even though it falls far short in a lot of ways, is worth fighting for.
You're seeing the bad people, whose bumper stickers intolerantly read, America: Love It Or Leave It. I'm seeing the better people, whose more hopeful bumper stickers read, America: Change It Or Lose It. * * * * * And now for an oldie but goodie. I was a bit surprised to find this flick had never been reviewed, unless it is filed under yet another name I was unaware of.
For some reason, I think it was a passing comment on the Mr Skin website, I re-watched my favorite Christina Lindberg movies last week. I see that one of them, Thriller: A Cruel Picture, has received a very brief review, which I might expand on. I have one more favorite, an unusual Japanese 'Pinky' movie co-starring Christina Lindberg, that I will review later. For now, here's a review of my absolute favorite.
* * * * * Diary of a Rape (1971) This movie, also released as Exposed and Exponerad, still lives in my mind as having one of the all-time hottest GIMP-ish scenes I have ever seen. I saw it for the first time at a drive-in, back when the various exploitation movies were making the rounds. Christina Lindberg was mesmerizingly beautiful, made even more so by either her inability to act or her carefully understated performance, whichever it was. I remember absolutely nothing about the movie except the 9-minute bondage rape scene near the end. Sadly, since the only copy I ever managed to obtain was a VHS tape without subtitles, even after re-watching it for this review I still know very little about the movie, except that it involved Christina Lindberg's character, Lena, going from sexual encounter to sexual encounter with strange passive-aggressive partners.
The movie begins with Lena ( Christina Lindberg) posing for nude photos, involving full-frontal nudity and, standard for the period, a heavy 70s bush. By the way, I think there is a striking resemblance between Christina Lindberg (below left) and (below right) of fame, so if you like Christina, you might check out Lexis. (You're welcome, Steve.).
I will skip the plot details and simply highlight the naughty bits, most of which are just non-GIMP sex and nude scenes. One of the confusing aspects of this movie is that Lena frequently fantasizes about things happening to her, and we get to see the fantasy, distinguished from reality by a faded cinematic color palette.
1:30 minutes. Lena meets her wussy blond Scandinavian boyfriend, Jan, in a field. He slaps her. Lena fantasizes about him slapping her repeatedly until she falls to the ground, then straddling her and slapping her more. It goes for about 20 seconds. 13:30 minutes. Lena fantasizes about she and Lars (half of a swinging couple who gave her a ride) going off into the woods and being caught by Lars' wife, Ulla, who chases Lena to a precipice and pushes her over, presumably to her death.
No sex or nudity, just a violent fantasy. 14:00 minutes. Naked Lars and Ulla frolic in in the lake. Ulla has a dark tan except where her bikini normally would be, and a huge 70s bush as well. (Lars does too, by the way.) Then they lounge naked in front of the fire, then make out. Lena surreptitiously watches them, then flashes back on herself posing nude for snapshots.
Sex and nudity for Lars and Ulla. Nudity for Lena. 21:45 minutes. Lars, Ulla and Lena bask naked in the sunshine on the dock. 25:00 minutes. Lena fantasizes about fleeing from boring boyfriend Jan with Lars and Ulla in their car. When Jan gives chase, the car overturns and explodes, killing Lars, Ulla and Lena.
In actuality, she gets in Jan's car and he drives her back to town. 31:00 minutes. Flashback to Lena at a swingers party where she meets sociopath playboy Helge. The voyeuristic Helge watches Lena having sex with a random dude, after which the nude photos from the pre-titles sequence were taken. Nice Lena topless nudity as she rides up and down on the random guy. 37:00 minutes. Flashback again, and Lena and some random gal are encouraged by Helge to have a make-out session while he watches.
There's an altercation when an older guy shows up and Lena flees. Nice Lena topless nudity. 43:00 minutes. Lena and Jan make out under the kitchen table, manage to half-disrobe, then move into the bedroom. About a minute's worth of Lena topless nudity followed by another minute of Lena and Jan full frontal nudity. 51:15 minutes.
An ever-so-brief flashback of Helge having sex with a sweat-covered Lena. 55:00 minutes.
We watch excerpts from a B&W Tarzan movie involving Nazis with Tarzan and Sandra ( Sandra? Does Jane know about this?) rope tied to pillars--and Boy rope tied on a bed--until Tarzan's chimp helps Tarzan escape his bonds. (Well, it was bondage.) 1 hour 10:00 minutes. The beginning of a relatively suspenseful but slow-moving sequence where Helge the sociopath is gaining entrance to Lena's apartment.
It finally comes to fruition three minutes in, when Helge walks into Lena's room with her sitting expectantly on her bed, in her ankle length nightgown. He tosses a paper sack on the bed, which has ropes in it.
Lena slowly reclines passively on the bed as Helge parts her legs and slowly ties first one foot and then the next to the foot of the bed. Then he moves onto the bed and ties her wrists to the headboard so that she is in a moderate spread-eagle. He takes a knife out of the bag and slowly cuts her nightgown down the center, parting it to reveal her naked body.
He slowly undresses and slowly works his way up and down her bound helpless torso as she timidly lies there. He fucks her and as he reaches climax she stabs him in the back with his own knife and he dies. The portion of the scene in the bedroom takes about 8-1/2 minutes, and I think it is the best 8-1/2 minutes I've ever seen. The careful, almost obsessive act of tying, stripping, exploring and fucking Lena is fairly intense, and Lena's timid, uncertain and vaguely victimized attitude is exciting. SUMMARY: Lena is roughly slapped repeatedly in a field, Lena is assaulted and half-stripped in a car while hitchhiking, and Lena is slowly and methodically tied to a bed, stripped naked, and fucked while bound in a spread-eagle position. There is a lot of other incidental sex and nudity, plus a rope-bound B&W Tarzan, Boy, and Sandra excerpt (WTF).
For me personally, this movie is a nice remembrance of the anything-goes sexploitation flicks and the twilight of the drive-in theater experience. But the lengthy climactic scene where Lena is tied, stripped and raped--even though she is not screaming and fighting the entire time--remains one of my All Time Favorite scenes, and gets an enthusiastic A. I never get tired of watching it. There is a Special Edition DVD version for sale at that I may just need to buy since my VHS tape is dying. It is well worth the $19.49 price tag. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 07:54:13 PM Name: DHT John Galt: Like most objectivists I know, you (this time at least) have a sudden knee jerk tendency to put a lot of words in people's mouths, decide that their energies are misdirected, scoff at what you declare to be their irrational emotionalism, and spontaneously create an entire straw man argument to assign to them for you to rail against.
You might consider, the next time you decide to take the pulpit, whether or not you're reacting to the actual people speaking or to what pre-loaded scenarios your scary ideology has prepped you for? (Because I hear the same pre-printed screeds every time an objectivist decides to debate with people). Just as objectivists disengage when they perceive the presence of the emotions of others, I disengage as soon an objectivist starts critiquing and quantifying the opinions of others as emotional.
As far as the rarity of abductions, I think you are lost in your numbers. I think you should ask some police officers in major cities how rare they are. Maybe you can tell them your statistics and that will cheer them up. Rare or not, one is honestly too many.
Any family who has faced this will be happy to explain that to you. But that's all I have to say about that. I hope no one reads hostility into it, because there is none. John Galt is an awesome poster who always brings something interesting to the table. Interesting trivia: Were it not for Megan Is Missing, I would not have found Endure! Thanks, little recommendations on the bottom of IMDB pages! What a happy surprise that one was.

At the risk of sounding ungrateful, the details about Lars's '70s-style pubes may have been a bit too much information. Nonetheless, Christina Lindberg looks cute and the movie sounds very promising. Saturday, August 20th 2011 - 09:57:04 PM Name: John Galt A Canadian: Glad you liked the review, Lars' manbush notwithstanding.
If you watch it, I would be greatly interested to know if that final rape scene works as well for you. * * * * * DHT: Well, I did link to what I considered reputable and reliable sites for my numbers, and I did it specifically so no one would think I spontaneously created my argument in the absence of facts.
Do you know something about the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that I don't, that would call into question their statistics? Do you get different results when you crunch those numbers? If you have different data, it would be more constructive to enlighten me. I do not want to be misinformed or mistaken, and so I am always looking for aspects of a situation that I might have overlooked.
Unless you disagree on an, umm, emotional level and just, you know, feel that I'm positing a straw man argument, then I am open to discussion. I would definitely question a police officer's anecdotal observations if they ran counter to a national organization that spends a lot of time and effort compiling statistics based, strangely enough, on reports by police officers. I would not question that officer's feelings or observations as they applied to him, but if he made claims that his personal observations were the national norm, and they conflicted with reports published by the FBI, NCIC, and relevant organizations, I would conclude he was in factual error. I am disappointed but not surprised that you employed a cheap emotional attack against me in your parting shot. (Oop, you just disengaged, didn't you?) I don't think I said anything that would lead anyone to believe I think there is an acceptable number of child abductions.
For you to imply that is wrong. However, if you want an emotional conundrum, let's say you have the last $1 billion government grant to spend on a population of, say 2.5 million children. Do you use it to fund a program that would stop one of those children from being abducted and murdered in a Megan is Missing manner, or a program that would alleviate the hunger of 625,000 children? Or would you partially fund both?
How much of that grant would insure that that single abduction would be thwarted? How many hungry children is an acceptable number to insure that outcome? I have an idea. Let's ask the parents of the hungry children how many is acceptable. Pseudo-documentary movies that rile people up about rare (but no less important) problems detract attention away from common (but equally important) problems.
My point is, all things being equal (meaning you are not the parent of an abducted child), we would all be better served by spending proportionately more time and resources worrying about issues that negatively impacted the greater number of children. Propagandistic movies that prevent that are counterproductive to society. Since I am also not above the occasional cheap shot: This would be the point where you wish that I have a child abducted and murdered and then see what I thought. But I say that with no hostility.;) Oh and by the way, I am not an Objectivist, my avatar just sounds like one. An Objectivist would say, 'Fuck them all if they can't feed and take care of themselves.' My point is, all things being equal (meaning you are not the parent of an abducted child), we would all be better served by spending proportionately more time and resources worrying about issues that negatively impacted the greater number of children. Propagandistic movies that prevent that are counterproductive to society. There are underlying premises in your statement, in which you posit the reasons the movie was made.
However, it is important to note that movies are often made for reasons other than to rile people about a problem. Usually they're made to make a profit, which means an interesting story is better than a common/plain story, because it's generally believed that most people want something other than the usual 'parent took child in custody battle' story. Also, in the GIMP genre, it's important to stress the social or artistic aspects of the story, to avoid being labeled obscene by the courts. So, a story about a common/shared (if statistically rare) fear involving GIMP is more likely to be made like this movie, if only because the story goes towards that socially-common fear (stranger abduction) and thus is socially valuable. Having not seen the movie, I don't know why you would believe it was made to rile people up. I myself am more likely to believe the movie was made to make money for someone and that the story was interesting to that person, regardless if it's not statistically justified.
Let's face it, statistics won't overcome human emotions. Statistically, cars are more dangerous than guns (example: in 1998, 41,000 people died in car-related deaths vs 30,000 in gun-related deaths), yet many people fear guns and think nothing of getting into a car. I'm not surprised people will believe statistically rare things over common things. I for one believe that movies should be entertaining and don't necessarily need to make a social point.
Moreover, I don't think that people should judge movies as counterproductive to society as you did in the quote above-weighing whether they adequately and correctly address a social issue. It seems to me that movies would get pretty boring then. Plus, how could I enjoy Princess Leia in bondage in Return of the Jedi, knowing that slavery was abolished by the 13th Amendment, meaning that the movie doesn't address a valid modern social issue and thus, is counterproductive? (my tongue is firmly planted in cheek, and I'm just kidding.
I know you can't possibly be this rigid.) Sunday, August 21st 2011 - 12:41:51 AM Name: Jon Smithie Well, damn. I spent an hour writing a response to DHT's recent post attacking John Galt only to find that John Galt had already written a response that said everything I wanted to say, only better. So I'll just pile on. Yeah, DHT, the 'One is too many' argument is lazy, easy and unless it includes some constructive suggestions on how you want to prevent that last 'one' simply panders to emotion.
We are not always good at evaluating risk, and that has consequences, both individually and collectively. 'Strangers are always to be treated with suspicion and never to be trusted' may be a prudent attitude to inculcate in children, but I'll bet if you're trying to help a lost child find her parents you will worry that you'll be accused of attempting to abduct her. Lesser mortals than we GIMPers may choose the option of not helping at all. We all have to come to terms with our GIMP fantasies and the reality out in the cruel world of abduction, rape, and torture.
I joined Amnesty International shortly after the abuses at Abu Ghraib were exposed. It seemed a constructive response to my anger that my country committed this atrocity and my guilt about my own bondage and torture fantasies.
There's not much I can do about the kind of abduction portrayed in 'Megan Is Missing'. It sounds too depressingly real to be a turn-on so I don't think I'll watch it. It reminds me of a stanza from a Wallace Stevens poem called 'The Shield of Achilles' That girls are raped, that two boys knife a third Were like axioms to him who'd never heard Of any world where promises are kept Or one could weep because another wept.

Mmmmm.Kool Aid. What a refreshing drink! I think everybody made good points in the whole Megan Is Missing issue, especially me. But we're steering just a little off the topic of movies and more into social problems of the country. When it gets right down to it, I'd rather talk about women being tied up and abused. I think that's something we can all agree on.
John, I really enjoyed reading your latest review (in between sips of Kool-Aid). I've seen the film under its more well-known title Exposed (it's also known as The Depraved). In fact, the tied to the bed rape clip has been posted here before, although it might have been before you arrived. Hank Hobbs has some great caps and also posted the scene at his a while back. It is definitely one of my favorites, too. Christina Lindberg is one of the all-time great babes in my book.
I have a thing for Swedish women, anyway. I had never heard of her before I went on the Internet but I was stuck by her beauty and discovered she has a real cult following even today. I'm not surprised, even though to my knowledge, she never made a film in this country.
I mean, look at this picture. Even with her clothes on, you can't take your eyes off her. From what I understand, someone came up to the producer of Exposed and told him if you want to make money, cast this girl; her pin-up is on half the walls of men in this country. I agree, her acting mainly consists of staring blankly, but it doesn't really matter when you look like her. Honestly, though, the film as a whole is mostly a tease up until that last 10 minutes. But that last scene.wow. I always cut off the scene right before she stabs the guy with the knife, though.
Not my idea of a climax. The direct link to your review is in my Homepage URL above. Sunday, August 21st 2011 - 01:40:38 PM Name: Jason Hey guys who would you recommend for custom videos? I've got a great concept that I'd like to have done, and am looking for a studio that features models with little or no tattoos, good actresses, and for a decent price. Thanks for any tips! Once I saw this, I figured there must be more. ------- Don't want to beat a dead horse on the Megan is Missing issue, but I would like to add, in a more generic sense, this thought: Whether it's movies or fiction, or movies/fiction 'based on actual events', the issue is not certainty or probability.it's. The reader/viewer has to be able to take it all in and say 'this could happen' or 'this has happened' or even just 'in my mind, I can suspend disbelief for a few hours'. That's the essence of entertainment.
Writers and producers are like people telling stories around a campfire (most likely their primeval origin). What they are saying may or may not be true, the events they describe may be rare or frequent.doesn't matter. Their main concern is not to be tedious and not to stray too far from plausibility. ------- Ralphus wrote: Christina Lindberg is one of the all-time great babes in my book.I mean, look at this picture. This doll-faced actress really lights my fire. She may not be very talkative, but her body language is universally understood. John Galt: Thanks for the review of Christina's multi-titled movie. I have seen only clips, so it's nice to have more information about it. Sunday, August 21st 2011 - 04:23:17 PM.
Advertisement A good ebook cover is a visual, strategic and emotional glance into the contents of your writing. But if you decide to design your own ebook cover, there are some important things you need to take into consideration. This isn’t just a topic of vanity and of having a “professional looking cover”, though.
It’s a truly important part of They say everyone has a book in them. The moment of completion brings a mix of immense satisfaction and a confused, horrified reality: “How on earth am I going to publish it?”. A micro-second glance at your cover may be the only opportunity you have to persuade a potential reader to find out more. Moreover, there’s no arguing with the fact that books are judged by their covers. A shoddy cover suggests shoddy content, even when that content may be the best content in the world. You need to just browse the many free titles on Amazon to see what I mean. So, if you, The web has revolutionized book publishing and promotion and made it within reach of anyone with an idea.
There are numerous instances where a greenhorn has made a pretty bundle by offering books for the., are going to dive into the deep end and rustle up your own ebook cover, here are a few things you need to take into account. Ebook And Print Book Covers Are Different This morning I was cordially informed by GoodReads (read our I am digital marketer who works in traditional publishing, and I am also a writer. And though I am not self-published, I have two words for those who are: Goodreads STAT.) that one of my friends had recently read the four books above. “Interesting”, I thought. Only I had not the faintest idea what the three on the right were, nor whether I would be even loosely interested in reading them myself.
Unless I strained my eyes to try and read the title. Or strained my brain trying to decipher what the images were all about. On the other hand, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes cover immediately peaked my curiosity. It’s been a book I’ve wanted to read for a long while, and knowing one of my friends has read some of Sir Arthur’s work prompted me to click through to the GoodReads page and 5 minutes later, to download the book to my Kindle.
All because I received some sort of insight into the book simply from its cover. It may be the case that the Sherlock Holmes cover was never designed as an ebook, but its design features make it way more suited to the thumbnail-style screen space that the major retailers will give to your own cover. This is an important lesson in realising the importance of ensuring your ebook cover is designed with this in mind — to ensure it peaks curiosity, and gives the right amount of information, without anyone needing the click through to any other page. Get Some Inspiration Before sitting down to design your cover, get a hearty dose of inspiration. Walk around your local bookstore and take photos of all the covers that you just have to pick up. Browse the portfolios of top book cover designers such as, who designed the covers above. Open up the Amazon bestseller page for the category you’ll be publishing to, and see what works over there.
Make a list of the features you like, or the features that seem to make books in your category more popular, and keep all of this in mind when designing your own cover. Take into account things like image style, colouring, typography, negative space, the information on the cover etc. Don’t forget to study the covers that just don’t grab your attention too. You’ll be able to learn a lot about what not to do. Make Sure The Cover Is The Right Size Image Credit: (Book Cover for Closure) There are arguably three different things you need to take into account here. Aspect ratio (dimensions are almost always in pixels), file size, and resolution. It can get pretty complicated, but you can find detailed walkthroughs on and, which I’d highly recommend.
You should also check relevant publishing sites etc to ensure this information is up to date. Each site/e-reader has its own preferences (which change pretty much every year). So, you will need to have different versions of your cover optimised for each of these platforms, and also ensure you update your covers when needed to make sure they still look the part both on-screen and in search results. For this, make sure to retain a master copy of the original file so it can easily be edited in future. For more technical specifications, this is a very brief overview, but to see a more detailed breakdown. Due to Amazon’s new large size recommendations (as of June 2014) you will have to make the cover wider than 2820 pixels. For a 6 x 9 proportion that could mean 3200 x 4800 pixels, unless you decide to go with the skinnier look and use their recommended 2820 x 4500.
Do check the top-selling and newly added ebooks on Amazon though – you will see most authors prefer the slightly wider 6 x 9 (1:1.5) size, and your book may look odd if you make it thinner. From there you can downsize the cover to 1600 x 2400 pixels to be uploaded at Barnes & Noble and other platforms that still require smaller file sizes. For B&N especially you have to make sure the file is less than 2 MB.
However, they may soon follow in the footsteps of Amazon. Start off with a resolution of 300 dpi or bigger to accommodate possible print versions of the book, then downsize to 72 dpi if need be. – Use The Right Images When it comes to using the right images (if you choose to use an image at all) for your ebook cover, there are a number of points to consider.
