In Windows 8, there was a halfway easy to find setting where I was able to enable playback of stereo sounds on all my speakers, but I have not found it in Windows 10. I don't really recall it being a function of the driver, but part of setting up your sound settings in Windows (didn't look 'bare bones'). So now instead of me being able to hear my music on the other side of the house, I can only hear it about 2/3's of the way. I have reinstalled drivers, but no improvement. I search the internet, but only find 'reinstall drivers'. Hi, Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

My 5.1 was working properly, but audio streams were being mixed properly through 2.1 instead of 5.1. Turns out it was through chrome. All of my music and online videos were only mixing through the two speakers and my sub (Center and rear left and right were dead).

Everything else outside of the web (games, downloaded movies, SACD's and Blu Rays) that were encoded for 5.1 mixed just fine. After three different drivers, two different third party softwares, it boiled down to Chrome being the culprit. Upset emoticon chrome://flags (any power user's favorite tab) scroll until you see 'Causes audio output streams to check if channel layouts other than the default hardware layout are available.'

Enable it, restart the browser, and enjoy your stereo sound playing through all six (or 8, if you have 7.1) channels. Seriously drove me nuts for the past two hours.

Hopefully this helps you! **** Windows???!!! Why you do this to us? Change it back or include this function when you know there are people who need it. I mean youtube and webbrowser in general without 5.1 sucks. Its **** when you aaaaaalways just have 2.1 when browsing the web. (yeah i know musik is recorded in stereo and upmixed 5.1 don't make it better bla bla bla.

Shut up haters!) ---------------'Solution for people without patience xD'--------------------------------------- EDIT: My 5.1 Sound works fine when gaming or watching a movie. Musik is 2.1 for sure x), but my webbrowsers are killing me xD (Windows 10, DX12 and no Errors) I have an onboard soundcard Realtek HD v6.0.1.7541 & a 5.1 Soundsystem (no digital - just green, orange and black plug connected) So for people who just WANT IT a 5.1 sound despite from the source (be carefull **** sound): -1. Open Realtek software -2. Switch to 'Speakers' ->'speaker configuration' -3. On the right side there are 8 'dots/ points' in different colours -4. Right klick the active ones & go to Connector Retasking (upper one) -5.

Set all of them to 'frontspeaker' or to the same as the green one is setted. Now you have the sound of the frontspeakers also in the other 4 (rear 2, middle and bass) --5.1 Maybe don't change the orange one [middlespeaker and bass] or the bass will go on rampage with every deep sound xD ---5.2 Try setting your Realtek software from 5.1 to stereo. ('speakers' ->'speaker configuration') and play with the options under 'sound effects' when something is irritating. Set it back to normal when you hate it or gaming/watching movie again When someone know how to upmix 2.1 sound source to 5.1 properly then pllssss let me know.

I miss you Windows XP. You never betrayed me and make thinks **** complicated. Nova Scotia Driver there.
